📣 Two Rounds, One Purpose 📣 📰
The Bear cave was bustling Friday evening, for our Mental Health round under lights. The weather gods were smiling down as the Supers kicked the night off against a solid Northern Warriors side. Some excellent football from both sides throughout made for an entertaining spectacle. Pigs vs Warriors following that gave us all a chance to catch some Freo footy, before the Masters took on Kingsway. Another excellent 4Q effort by the boys in slightly slipperier conditions. All came away unscathed 🐻💙 thanks to all who helped and supported a great cause.
The ladies headed to Carlisle for one of our favourite rounds of the year, the Kick for a Cure Breast Cancer Round, hosted by the Ducks. It was a fantastic event, and seeing all the women's clubs come together for such an important cause made the day even more special.
We faced off against Hammond Park, who came out swinging. Triz shouldered a lot of the workload early as we adjusted to the pressure. Tanya never stopped running, and Sarah was so good at shepherding you'd think she was a bodyguard.
Ammo also took to the field for the Legends Match and reported it was an epic game, fast-paced, highly skilled, and an unforgettable experience.

📣 📰 Breakin News From the Den! 🐻

Round 9 saw the Bears take the pilgrimage down to Bunbury!
Was a chilly start to the morning but that didn’t last long with the boys heating things up on the oval. With a team of 16 heading down for 2 back to back games. Luckily in masters spirit there were a few fellow masters players that were able to help out on the field and we were happy to help the boys out by getting a run. With pretty much all masters players in combined age group games the boys did exceptionally well!
Came out with a flying start and controlled the first game from start to finish! Our second game came up against fresh legs and this showed in the first half, the boys played our possession style football in the second half and this reflected on the field as the boys clawed there way back into it!
Great morning of football was had by all!

Our girls took on Busselton in Bunbury on Sunday, and what a day it was. Busso's first line of defence was Forrest Highway, slowing the girls down before the game even started, but by 10:30 it was all action. Used to finding space, our girls faced a tough challenge on a smaller oval with full sides. Busso made the most of the conditions, and every time we looked up there seemed to be a wall in front of us. Once we found our rhythm, the goals started coming. A big thank you to Margs for helping us out, and to Suz from Rockingham, who was a force in the backline with a kick to rival our own Rach. Standout performances came from Cass, who seemed to be everywhere all day, Ammo, whose last-minute decision to pull on the boots paid dividends, and Kat, who celebrated her 50th game with the Bears. Congratulations Katherine Fernandes.

📣 (Not so) Breakin News 🗞️

The HPW women hit the field in Round 8 against Quinns in an eleven a side showdown that felt less like footy and more like a cardio challenge. With plenty of room to roam, Quinns made full use of the wing, while HPW did their best to keep them in check in a game that stayed tight from start to finish. At one stage, it felt like it was raining goals. El returned to defence and reminded everyone why attackers fear crossing her path, while Triz appeared to be karate chopping her way through the middle. The biggest cheer of the day, however, was for Steph, who slotted her first goal. These girls are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with and they're having plenty of fun along the way.

Round 8 saw our masters take on the Central Crocs/Ellenbrook and the Supers take on Wembley.
The masters were up first, the game started off on the physical side of things but in true Bears spirit we held our own!
With a great team effort which was reflected on the score sheet with 7 blokes slotting a snag! The boys continue to play well and work for each other on the field and is a pleasure to coach and watch.
We had a game break before the supers took to the field and considering the amount of masters that helped out by doubling up I think it was appreciated. Always a good test coming up against an outfit like Wembley. The first half reflected this as they got off to a cracking start against us. But as us bears do we clawed our way back in the second half! Some great individual and team efforts! Special mention to Sam Hagdorn slotting 4 majors for the supers! Another big thanks to the boys for doubling up it never goes unnoticed!

And finally… a little shout out to the council. Despite our best efforts to have the lights extended, they had other plans, so the last quarter ended up a game of spotto before it was eventually called off in the dark! 🌑🏉 We’ll laugh about it now… and hopefully next year we’ll get the extra light!

📣 EXTRA EXTRA 📣
Our Masters team took on the Mandurah makos on Sunday down at Warnbro.
Right from the first ball up the boys were on! Using the ball well and utilising the space we were playing Bears style football and the boys were loving it! As the sky started getting darker with the clouds rolling over it looked liked we were going to get wet! This didn’t put the boys off though! With some great individual efforts and even better team ones it was great footy to watch! Plenty on the bench meant lots of rotations and fresh legs! Although in the last quarter the weather gods were against us with some flashes of lightning in the distance! Unfortunately it was rolling our way and the decision was made for the boys safety to call it off with only a few minutes to go in the last!

Our Womens team came out swinging on Sunday against the Ducks, actually both sides came out swinging. What a match. Most conceding it was the best of the season and probably one of the best game of women's footy we have played. We were toe to toe, goal for goal like a Newtons cradle going ballistic. Both teams gave it everything they had. Stand outs include KC & Go-Annas fierce defence of the backline then attacking non stop in the forward and Triz with some footwork that dancers would be jealous of. Our marking was out of this world and any loose passages of play were swept up by the girls instantly. Zach almost passed out with pride, this was one to remember.
