Today weβre celebrating the beginning of NAIDOC week!
Acknowledging all First Nations peoples of Australia and celebrating their enduring knowledge and connection to this beautiful country on which we get to host our Games.
Β
This year marks 50 years of commemorating the voices of Australiaβs First Nations peoples past and present - 50 Years of Deadly. We wanted to celebrate this year by sharing our story, proudly developed by the talented artist Kevin Bynder. Being the official artwork for the Perth 2027 World Police & Fire Games.
Β
In this video, Kevin shares the story and cultural significance woven throughout the artwork, offering a powerful insight into the connections, journeys and communities that the Games will bring together.
Β
Through his artistry, Kevin has created more than a visual identity β he has told a story that reflects Country, people and the spirit of unity at the heart of the 2027 World Police & Fire Games.
Β
As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, we recognise the invaluable contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists like Kevin, whose work helps share culture, strengthen understanding and inspire connection.

Youth Custodial Officer Darryl King is shaping up for another tilt at gold at the World Police and Fire Games to be hosted in Perth in March 2027.
He represented WA Corrective Services at the Games held in the USA last year, winning a gold medal and a silver medal in the martial art jiu jitsu.
Darryl is a black belt in the sport and again preparing to tackle tough opponents at his home-town Games.
The Perth Games will bring together about 8500 law enforcement, correctional, fire and emergency services athletes from 70 countries across 65 sports β a celebration of skills, service and global camaraderie.
Beyond competing, Darryl is also playing a key role behind the scenes as jiu jitsu sports co-ordinator, helping deliver a world class competition.
He is one of hundreds of volunteers (including his wife and Mum) supporting the organisation and staging of the Games.
Darryl says heβs proud to represent both Corrective Services and the people in custody under his care.
For those interested in competing in the Games, a discounted registration fee applies until 31 July 2026. Register here: wpfg2027.com

Meet Rob Lyle β a New Zealand Police Officer with 20 years of service under his belt, a Youth Engagement Supervising Sergeant from South Auckland, and a track athlete who proves that some people genuinely get faster with ageπββοΈπ³πΏ
Rob spent his younger years competing in Track and Field before football and rugby took over. By the time he hit 40, the recovery from contact sport was taking longer than the games themselves β so he laced up his spikes again after two decades away. He hasn't looked back. Birmingham 2025 was his first ever World Police & Fire Games β and he announced himself in style, helping set a brand new Games record as part of the Men's 50-54 4x400m relay team.
First Games. World record. Not a bad start. π
In Perth he'll be back on the track in the Men's 50-54 age group, still giving athletes half his age something to think about at club nights and regional meets along the way π
Perth also happens to be personal β he has family there waiting, which makes the trip even sweeter.
To anyone still considering registering, Rob puts it simply. "You never know what is around the corner in life β so while the mind is willing and the body is somewhat able, grab this with both hands. You won't regret it."
See you on the track, Rob π¦πΊπββοΈ
