🔸SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE 🔸
As many of you have probably noticed, we’ve been a little quiet on social media lately, but for good reason.
Over the past few months, we’ve not only been rebuilding the W22 after our season-ending crash last year, but we’ve also welcomed our beautiful second daughter into the world. It’s been a busy and exciting time for our family, and while social media has taken a back seat, the hard work behind the scenes certainly hasn’t stopped.
The team has been working tirelessly to get everything ready, and we’re now looking for new sponsors to join Matt Fitzgerald Motorsport for the 2026/27 Wingless Sprint season.
We’re so close to getting back on track, but we still need a few final pieces to complete the rebuild. The support of our sponsors is what makes it all possible, and without that support, our return to racing will unfortunately be delayed.
If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a small family run team, now is the perfect opportunity. We have sponsorship packages available to suit businesses of all sizes, and we’d love to have you on board for the journey.
Comment below or send us a message, and we’ll happily send through our sponsorship packages.
In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek of our fresh new team logo! A huge thank you to Lachie from LS Design for all the hard work he’s been putting into our complete team rebrand alongside Meg and Matt. The new colours are a tribute to our girls, and we can’t wait to share the full reveal with you all.
Here’s to getting W22 back where it belongs on the track 🏁

Team Update
After Friday night’s crash and assessing the damage, the car will need a complete rebuild. As a small family team, the cost to rebuild is simply too much for us to take on before the end of the season.
Matt has had to make the tough call — one he really didn’t want to make — to end our season early.
We’re incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received after the crash and throughout the year. The messages, the offers of help, and the encouragement have meant so much. With a baby on the way and the rebuild cost being what it is, continuing this season just isn’t possible.
Thank you to our amazing sponsors for your support, and we’re sorry to be wrapping up the season sooner than planned. We’ll regroup, rebuild, and come back stronger.
We will still see most of you down at track because we wont be able to stay away from watching and supporting the other teams
We will be back racing next season for some limited shows and a smaller season while soaking up the second baby🩵🩷 🤞

Race Day Recap
Well… what a roller coaster of a night for the team.
Heat 1 didn’t go our way. We started P9 and finished P11 after clobbering the wall, which buckled the right rear rim and broke the Jacob’s ladder. It locked onto the diff and made the car a nightmare to drive, but Matt muscled through and still brought it home.
Heat 6 was a much better run. We rolled out of P4, got an awesome jump off the start, but a restart on lap 1 moved us up to P2 for the rerun. Matt had a strong drive and we came home P5, which slotted us into P22 for the Feature.
The Feature…
We had a solid first 8 laps, moving up 4–6 positions. Coming out of Turn 4 we had good drive on Brad Mitchell, went around the outside into Turn 1 and unfortunately Brad didn’t know we were there. With nowhere to go, the two of them came together and Matt had a huge rollover—big enough to leave one of the largest holes the track crew has ever seen.
The car is an absolute wreck… maybe two things salvageable. But the most important thing: Matt is okay, just a sore knee and shaken up.
A massive thank you to our crew for all their hard work, and to the teams who jumped in to help us get the car loaded up—we appreciate it more than you know.
Sorry Brad for any damage done to your car. And to Scotty & Lisa… sorry about the GoPro mounts 😂🤭
We’ll strip the car over the next few days and assess the full damage, but at this stage we may not be back out for the rest of the season.
Huge thanks to Outback Accommodation Sandstone for replacing our Jacob’s ladder after the first heat, and thank you to all our sponsors for your continued support.

Record Numbers?
The Wingless Sprints take centre stage Friday night at the Perth Motorplex as part of the Sprintcar Speedweek finale, with the class continuing its strong momentum ahead of the Australian Wingless Sprint Title to be held at the venue later this season.
That momentum is clearly reflected in the numbers, with close to forty competitors nominating to race on the famous Kwinana Beach clay for what promises to be a highly competitive night of action. If all drivers show up, it will also be a new record field for the division.
Matthew Iwanow (Iwanow Motorsport) arrives at the Speedweek finale in outstanding form, leading the Perth Motorplex Track Championship after five nights of racing so far this season.
Iwanow sits on 811 points and holds a narrow 13-point advantage over second-placed Daran Humfrey (Humfrey Racing), while Brandon Sharpe (Sharpe Motorsport) is a further 26 points back in third.
Heydon Hicks (Hicks Racing ) and Blake Scarey (Scarey One Motorsports) complete the current top five in the Track Championship standings, highlighting just how tight the battle has been across the opening rounds.
Friday night’s event also doubles as Round Six of the Wingless Sprints Championship Series, adding even more importance to the night.
Once again, it is Iwanow who leads the way in the series standings, with Humfrey firmly in pursuit and Riley Phillips (Phillips Motorsport ) currently sitting third overall.
With strong fields at every round and minimal margins separating the front-runners, the championship remains wide open as the series heads deeper into the season.
The entry list for Friday night showcases both depth and diversity, featuring proven winners, rising talent and a strong core of regular Motorplex competitors.
As well as the aforementioned competitors, drivers such as Tommy Britton (Tommy Britton Motorsport), Ryan Mitchell (Mitchell Motorsport) and Brad Fitzgerald will all be looking to make a statement on one of the sport’s biggest stages, while the continued growth of the class is evident with competitors travelling from across the metropolitan area and regional centres including Vasse and Bunbury to be part of the show.
We also welcome back tonight reigning Track Champion Brendon Wedge (Wedge Motorsport). A multi time feature winner at the Motorplex, Wedge has been sidelined with health issues for the season so far, but will tonight make his triumphant return to the track and after a few laps to settle back into the seat, will surely return to his spectacular form.
With the Australian Wingless Sprint Title looming later in the season, every lap on the Perth Motorplex surface is proving invaluable.
This weekends racing will not only play a crucial role in both the Track Championship and the Championship Series, but also offer an important benchmark for teams as they fine-tune their programs ahead of the national event.
As part of the Speedweek finale, fans can expect fast, aggressive and entertaining racing from a near-capacity Wingless Sprint field.
With championships on the line and pride at stake, Friday night at the Perth Motorplex is shaping up as another key chapter in what has already been a strong and exciting season for the Wingless Sprints.

RETURN TO GERALDTON!
The Wingless Sprints return to Geraldton City Speedway this Saturday night for the first time in fourteen years, as the fifth round of the championship doubles as the Midwest Shootout, proudly supported by Hosexpress.
Wingless Sprints were originally scheduled to race at the venue back in February 2024, but that show was unfortunately washed out, meaning the last time the Wingless Sprints actually competed at Geraldton was back in 2011 for the WA Title.
With such a long break, not a single driver in the current field has meaningful experience at the venue, creating a completely level playing field and ensuring no one enters the night with any existing advantage.
Championship leader Matt Iwanow (Iwanow Motorsport) heads north carrying strong momentum after an impressive start to the season. He currently holds the points lead over Daran Humfrey (Humfrey Racing) and Riley Phillips (Phillips Motorsport ), with Brandon Sharpe (Sharpe Motorsport) and Travis Armstrong (Armstrong Motorsport) completing the top five. All five are nominated for Geraldton and will be eager to make the most of a track where everyone begins from scratch.
For Iwanow, the challenge will be maintaining control of the standings and building on his previous performances while Humfrey and Phillips will be keen to close the gap and potentially leave the Midwest as the new points leader. Sharpe, Armstrong and several others have also shown consistently strong pace this season and could easily insert themselves into the front-running conversation.
Aside from those five, a solid field of Wingless has nominated for the Midwest Shootout, bringing together championship contenders, rising talents and several drivers hoping to use Geraldton’s unfamiliar conditions to spring a surprise.
Heydon Hicks (Hicks Racing ) is back in the field after missing the Manjimup show and is ready to fire, while rookie Tyler McQuilkin (McQuilkin Motorsport) has been impressing many as he takes to the division like a duck to water, a podium finish surely not out of reach.
There are plenty of storylines through the field: Tommy Britton (Tommy Britton Motorsport) hoping for some better results on the weekend, Robbie Clark looking to build on a solid Manjimup result, Memphis Knowles (Mk motorsport) running the #74 car and Blake Scarey (Scarey One Motorsports) working to get back into race winning form: this will be a show not to miss.
With plenty on the line as this weekend, we can’t wait to have Geraldton City Speedway write a brand-new chapter in Wingless Sprints history!
