We kicked off Book Week 2026 at Village Karrinyup with a extra special surprise visit from Gilbert the Gecko! 🦎📚

Gilbert dropped by to share his absolute favourite read: "Dinosaurs Love Underpants!" He’s a massive bookworm at heart, and he’s hoping to spark a love for reading across all of Perth this week.

On Friday, Brett got to connect with the team and families behind Alkimos North East Primary School—a brand-new community opening its doors in 2027 for Kindy to Year 6!

Whilst we didn’t get the result we were hoping for at the 2026 City of Joondalup - Joondalup Business Awards, what an incredible opportunity to stop, reflect and celebrate just how far we’ve come over the past 12 months.

A huge congratulations to General Company Co on taking out Business of the Year. Incredibly well deserved. The impact you’re making and the genuine pathways you’re creating for people with additional needs is something very special. We were honoured to be recognised alongside you.

It probably sums up our team better than any polished awards photo ever could.

We were told the 360° camera could fit a maximum of four people.

Naturally, our senior team got six on there.

We made it work. That’s just what we do.

We tackle new challenges.
We find a way.
We make the person beside us better.
And we have plenty of fun along the way.

They are the muscles behind the day-to-day operation of GeckoSports West Coast and that same attitude flows directly into what we do with kids, schools, families and communities right across WA.

The past 12 months have been enormous not simply in terms of growth, but in the impact we’ve been able to make across our community. That’s the part we’re most proud of.

Awards are special, but nights like this are also a reminder that the real win is the people you get to share the journey with and the difference you can make together.

Proud of this team. Proud of what we’ve built. And incredibly excited about where we’re heading next. 🦎

Building sustainable outcomes for remote schools isn’t about one visit—it’s about long-term partnerships.

This week, our team had the privilege of working alongside the outstanding staff and students at Sacred Heart Beagle Bay Primary School and Cable Beach Primary School in the Kimberley.

For GeckoSports, supporting regional and remote schools has never been about simply delivering a sports program. Our mission is to partner with schools to create sustainable, long-term outcomes that continue well beyond our visit.

Our work focuses on:
• Increasing student engagement and improving attendance through high-quality physical education experiences.
• Delivering practical, curriculum-aligned professional development that builds teacher confidence and capability.
• Supporting community engagement by creating opportunities that bring schools, families and communities together.
• Developing sustainable programs that schools can continue to deliver independently.

Every child deserves access to exceptional physical education and wellbeing opportunities, regardless of where they live. While remote schools often face unique challenges around access, staffing and resources, they also have some of the strongest and most resilient communities in Australia. We’re proud to play a small part in supporting them.

This is just the beginning.

Over the coming months, we’ll be announcing several exciting initiatives that will further strengthen our commitment to regional and remote education across Western Australia.

Sold out and kicking goals! 🐯🦎 We teamed up with the Claremont Tigers for an epic AFL holiday camp, and it was an absolute blast!
Over 50 legends packed out the stadium for a day of footy games, team-building challenges, and skills training. From epic match play to an exclusive behind-the-scenes facilities tour, these kids brought 100% energy and big smiles all day long. 🙌🔥
A massive thank you to CLAREMONT FOOTBALL CLUB for having us and showing the next generation just how awesome AFL is!
