The Nepean Referees Group launched in 2014. In 2026, we will continue this passion and energy to serve the community.

It quickly became the fastest growing referees group in Australia as it combined fantastic referee education with fantastic engagement.

The Deploy Association Championships have been held at Mudgee this week over four days. Our 4 junior referees Xavier, Abigail, Vienna and Amelia were selected by Nepean Referees Group to attend. Accommodation and uniforms were supplied by FNSW.
It is a great experience to get feedback and coaching from FNSW coaches and referees. Well done on representing NRG.⚽️

Tonight marks a significant celebration for our current NRG President Phil Macdonald who has decided to step down from officiating Waratah First Grade fixtures following tonight's game between Penrith FC and Penrith Rovers.

Phil has been refereeing Waratah League for at least the last six years and is a well respected figure among players, coaches and clubs. Phil officiated the 2022 Grand Final and was awarded the Senior Referee of the Year that year.

We will still see Phil on the field officiating senior games and mentoring both junior and senior referees.

Congratulations on a stellar first grade career!

A great night at our members' meeting on Tuesday night where we held a trivia night as a fun and engaging way of reviewing and interpreting the Laws of the Game!

The night included 6 rounds of theory and video questions, including handball, fouls and sanctions with some great prizes.

A big thank you to OnePoint Health, Deploy Football, Hallmark Sports and Penrith Bowling and Recreation Club for donating prizes for our referees.

Did you know that since the 2025 finals series, we've trained 55 new referees? Most of these referees are under 18.

While respect for all referees is important, there is a need for special attention towards young referees to support their wellbeing and confidence.

As the age of a referee isn’t always apparent, a simple identifier in the form of a green armband is issued to each of our junior referees as part of their kit, which is worn around the sleeve or sock on matchday.

18 Green is a powerful step towards building a football community that values and supports its junior referees.

By adhering to the principles of respect, protection, and retention, the object is to create a positive and inclusive environment for our young officials.
