This year marks the 10th anniversary of Melbourne University Lightning’s Championship side winning its inaugural Victorian Netball League title.

Not only are they legends of the club, but members of this team also have gone on to much success within and beyond the world of netball.

It was wonderful to have Elissa Kent, Maddie Stewart and Maddy Fitzgerald (née Carter) in attendance at the 2026 Lightning Awards to speak to the culture, mindset and people that made that Lightning team so special.

The team had a successful year making the finals for a third season in a row ⚡️

Huge congratulations to Norah Gabriel for her performances for the Singapore national team at the Asian Netball Championships in Hong Kong, China that wrapped up on August 15.

Singapore took out the 2026 title, defeating the hosts in the final, with both nations now qualified for the Sydney 2027 Netball World Cup! 🇸🇬🙌🏐
