Park Orchards Steelers Basketball Club

One of our longtime Steelers coaches and former players Lachie Hirst (lachie_h35 ) , is taking on an incredible challenge on Saturday the 28th of November. He will be running 80km from Lilydale to Warburton and back to raise $10,000 for Eastern Palliative Care (EPC).

EPC provide care, guidance and support for people and families during the end‑of‑life stage. A time when many feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. Funds will go towards their 24/7 on‑call service which offers everything from a simple phone call to full home visits, giving families reassurance when they need it most.

To keep this service running, EPC must raise $168,000 this year.

An average phone call costs $50, and a home visit can cost up to $200. Every dollar raised helps more families access this vital support and ensures their loved ones receive compassionate care.

To those who coach, score, manage teams, drive to early morning & late games, rebound at training, wash uniforms, cheer from the sidelines and somehow always know where the missing basketball is… thank you! 😂🏀

So much of junior sport happens because of the people behind the scenes who give their time, encouragement and support week after week — and we’re incredibly lucky to have so many wonderful dads doing just that at the Steelers.

We hope you get to put your feet up today (at least until someone needs a lift to basketball 😉).

The first day of finals has already kicked off, with an absolute nail-biter for our U11/4s! They took the game into overtime and fought right to the very end, going down by just one goal in the final 20 seconds. Such a great game and an incredible effort from the whole team — they tried so hard and should be very proud! 💙👏

A huge congratulations and GOOD LUCK to our 18 Steelers teams who have made it through to finals! 🙌

🏀 Boys Try-Outs | Summer 26/27 ❤️💙

A big thank you to all the boys and families who joined us for our Summer 26/27 try-outs today!

We know Sundays are busy with footy and plenty of other sporting commitments, so we really appreciate everyone who could make it along. It was great to see the boys out on court, having a run and giving it their best.

We also had some special guests join us from Warrandyte Venom, our local representative basketball pathway. With Venom rep try-outs coming up in October, it was great to have them courtside chatting with our families about representative basketball and what that next step can look like. We love continuing to build this relationship and creating pathways for our Steelers players who want to take their basketball further. 🏀

And a huge thank you to our coaches, committee and volunteers who gave up their Sunday to make today happen. There are a lot of people behind the scenes who make days like this possible, and we're incredibly grateful. ❤️💙

What a way to kick off Future Steelers! 💙🏀

Friday night's first session was beyond anything we could have hoped for, with over 100 future Steelers joining us. The energy was incredible, the smiles were contagious, and it was so much fun seeing kids, coaches, volunteers and parents all enjoying the experience together.

A huge thank you to every one of our amazing volunteers who gave up their Friday afternoon to make it happen. This program simply wouldn't be possible without you. 💙

It was also fantastic to see every child head home with their very own Future Steelers T-shirt and basketball to keep the excitement going until next week.

We're looking forward to doing it all again this Friday for Week 2 of 4!

Back-to-back wins against the teams sitting 2nd and 1st on the ladder is an awesome achievement. Saturday’s 5-point win over the top team was a tough, competitive game, with the girls showing fantastic teamwork, determination and resilience throughout🙌
