What a way to finish the Festival, with our community coming together to celebrate Capoeira, music, culture and our students. 💛

And now we’re getting closer to Maré Cheia 2026, and we can’t wait to do it all again!

Our Grand Event will bring together Capoeira, student demonstrations, cultural performances, graduations, Brazilian food, rodas and plenty of celebration with our community.

This takes us back to a special moment with Mestre China! 🙌🪘🔥

We’re so excited to have him joining us again this year!
During Festival week, Mestre China will be leading all of our kids and adult classes, giving our students the chance to learn directly from him throughout the week.

And on Thursday, 22 October, his special Masterclass will be open to adult Capoeiristas from other groups across Perth too! 🙌

Yesterday turned into a pretty special night. 💛

Not only did we accidentally end up with a women only class, we also celebrated Margarida's birthday roda... and she turned 75!🎉

You read that right.

For almost exactly 12 of those years, Margarida has been an active part of our Capoeira community. She's at every event, always ready to jump into the roda, our fundraising champion, and one of our biggest ambassadors for Capoeira.

Earlier this year, during our 15 Year Celebration, Margarida received The Legend Award.

Anyone who knows her knows exactly why.

She still moves with incredible energy, brings positivity to every class, and reminds us that Capoeira really is something you can enjoy for life.

Margarida, we feel incredibly lucky to have you on this journey with us. It's always a pleasure to share the roda with you, and we can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays together.

Today’s cord making workshop was all about community and getting hands on! 🧶💛

Our Capoeira cords are all handmade by our volunteer parents and students.

From making the yarn bundles, to weaving each cord by hand, then finishing it with a personalised bead and a rose knot to secure it, there’s a lot of time and positive energy that is woven into every cord. They are all pieces of art.

We’re very lucky to have such a great community, and very grateful to everyone who came along to learn today, as well as those who have been making cords with us for a few years now. 🙌

We had the pleasure of participating in the Capoeira Canning Festival.

It was great to see Professor Amigo again 🤩

His energy made the day such a great celebration for the Capoeira community.

And this moment was something else… Professor Ouriço playing a solo while the Samba Reggae was happening live! 🪘🎶

This is one of the things that makes Capoeira so much fun.

The music, the movement, the people... everything happening together in the moment.

Behind every Maré Cheia Festival are parents and adult students dedicating their time to hand make more than 120 graduation cords. 🟢🟡

Making cords is one of the many ways our values of connection and community come to life. 💚 Every cord is made by someone from our own community, ready to become part of a student's Capoeira journey.

Here are Boa Gente and Apito making cords while their kids are in class. 🙌

We're so grateful to them, and to everyone else who has been making cords for this year's Festival on 24 October. 💛🪢

Our Saplings students, 12–14 year olds, had some special guests in class last night! 👀🙌

Some of our advanced adult students came along to support the class, play some Capoeira and jump into the roda.

And they definitely brought the energy! 🔥🪘

Some great games, plenty of fun and an amazing roda to finish the night.💛
