Orange Trail Horse Riders Association NSW

The Orange Trail Horse Riders Association formally came to a close last night, following a special meeting.

The occasion was marked by a sense of nostalgia and appreciation, as past and present members gathered to share stories and memories of their time with the club.

The dedication and commitment of numerous individuals who have played a crucial role in establishing and sustaining the club were duly recognised.

We express our sincere gratitude to all who attended the meeting and to those who, although unable to attend, have made significant contributions to the club's activities over the years.

The association will now undergo the process of formal dissolution, with a targeted completion date of 31 January 2025.

We extend our warmest wishes to you, your loved ones, and your horses for a joyous and peaceful holiday season.

Sadly our club will be coming to an end on January 31st.

The decision to close our club was not an easy one, but one our members came to at our recent AGM. Unfortunately we have struggled for a few years now to get enough people to fill the executive roles required to keep the club running.

Our members will still be able to ride locally by joining other ATHRA clubs in the area including Cowra Trail Horse Riders, Gooloogong Horse Trail Riding Club Inc. and Central Tablelands Regional Trail Riders

In order to meet the guidelines when closing a club, we need to hold a special meeting to make some decisions. We thought combining this with our Christmas Party would be the best way to get everyone together.

While it is very sad to see the club fold after years of fun and friendship, we would like to take the chance to thank each and everyone of you who joined as full members, came along for day rides or hosted rides. Without each and everyone of you the club wouldn’t have existed.

A poll will be posted soon to find out which day the majority are available to attend the special meeting followed by our Christmas Party dinner in Orange at the Duntry League (pending availability).

Please note this event will be at the cost of the attendee.

Following yesterday’s ride, the club held its Annual General Meeting for 2024. The current Committee members stepped down from their roles. On October 15, 2024, a call for nominations for Executive roles to lead the Committee was shared via Facebook and email. Unfortunately, only one expression of interest was received. Given the club’s ongoing struggles over the past few years, a decision was made to wind it up.

A Christmas gathering is being organised for past and present members to bid their final farewells. Stay tuned for more details.

We strongly encourage anyone interested in continuing trail riding in the area to join the Cowra Trail Horse Riders, Gooloogong Horse Trail Rider Club, or Central Tablelands Regional Trail Riders Club through the Australian Trail Horse Riders Association https://www.athra.com.au/ (ATHRA). Being a member of ATHRA offers fantastic opportunities to ride on private properties with like-minded people.

The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all current and past members for their support over the past 20 years (or more?) and wish you the happiest of trails with your beautiful horses.

What a perfect day for a ride! We cruised 12.2 km, grabbed lunch back at the floats, and the horses got a refreshing swim.
