An update regarding the proposed transfer out of Outer East and into Southern.
Officer Football Club Responds to Outer East FNL Decision
The Officer Football Club has this afternoon received formal notification that the Outer East FNL has rejected our request to transfer out and affiliate with the Southern FNL at the conclusion of the 2026 season in line with our strategic plan.
This process is by no means over as the Club has immediately lodged its intention to appeal this decision with AFL Victoria.
The Officer Football Club remains steadfast in its decision to transfer out of the Outer East FNL β a decision that was not made lightly. It has followed extensive consultation and careful consideration by our sub Committee over the last two years, with the long-term sustainability of our entire football club at the centre of every discussion.
The application is based on several key factors, including:
β’ The loss of traditional rivalries and local connections following the departure of numerous neighbouring clubs from the Outer East which has left Officer increasingly isolated from the majority of participating clubs
β’ Significantly increased travel demands for our players, members, volunteers and supporters compared to when we first joined
β’ Our belief that the Southern FNL provides a stronger long-term strategic fit for the future growth and sustainability of our football program β including the pathway and partnership with the Officer Kangaroos JFC.
We remain committed to working with the Southern FNL who are supporting us as the formal transfer process continues.
Our Club is aware of the recent videos on social media regarding a proposed merger of the Eastern FNL and the Outer East FNL. We have advised the OEFNL that our Club will not be part of any joint venture/merger solution and that our future lies in the compact geographic footprint of the Southern FNL.
We will provide further updates for our players, members, sponsors and supporters as the appeal with AFL Victoria progresses.

ROC FC 1996 30 Year Premiership Reunion.
Well that's a wrap on what was huge day at the Rob Porter Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
We welcomed all 1996 listed players, officials and supporters to the Club for a day of reminiscing about the day ROC were able to overcome a tough Garfield side by 14 points in the West Gippsland Football League by becoming back to back premiers.
The 1996 players were part of the pre-game brief then Callum White addressed the players. Just before the senior team ran out Roy Norton gave the boys a huge rev up.
In a very important game in the context of the season with Officer (5th) playing Mt Evelyn (2nd) the Kangaroos came home with the chocolates by the narrowest of margins - 1 point.
Below are some photos from the day.

Happy 60th Birthday today to Club stalwart and Life Member Rob Cousins!!!
Coming to ROC in the early 1990's, Couso is a ROC two time senior premiership player (1995 & 1996) who was a mobile tap ruckman who found something extra come finals time.
A former ROC committee representative, club umpire, reserves coach, Past Players & Officials President (current Secretary). There isn't much Couso hasn't done around the Club over more than 30 years.
Enjoy yourself today Couso and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the 1996 Premiership Reunion and if we're lucky the harmonica may come out for some tunes.
