Our rock-climbing wall is always a fun challenge for our Junior Gymnasts!

As little climbers work their way up the wall, they're building strength, coordination and body awareness while learning to plan their next move and growing in confidence with every step.

Sometimes the best part is simply reaching a little higher than last time! 💪

🌟 GCA 40 Under 40 | Shae Christian

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate WGC Educational Manager Shae Christian, who has been named among Gymnastics Clubs Australia’s Top 2026 40 Under 40 Industry Leaders!

The GCA 40 Under 40 program recognises leaders making a significant contribution to their clubs and the wider gymnastics industry – and Shae’s impact across Waverley is certainly something worth celebrating.

Leading and mentoring a team of more than 50 coaches across our two campuses, Shae oversees the development of more than 2,000 Educational gymnasts and is continually working to strengthen the quality, consistency and experience of our programs.

From refining our curriculum and lesson plans, to leading our annual Gym for All event for more than 700 participants and championing inclusive gymnastics opportunities for children of all abilities, Shae’s leadership reaches across so many areas of our WGC community.

Her commitment to developing our coaches, strengthening our programs and creating meaningful opportunities for every gymnast is an important part of what makes Waverley what it is today.

A very well-deserved recognition – congratulations, Shae! 👏💙

Brave on the beam!

Every step along the beam is an opportunity to build balance, concentration and confidence.

Whether our Junior Gymnasts are walking forwards, sideways or carefully stepping over an obstacle, they are learning to control their bodies and trust what they can do. 🌟💙❤️

SIR JOHN MONASH AWARDS 2026 🌟

A very special congratulations and good luck to Waverley Gymnastics Centre Treasurer Ed Johansen, who has been nominated for Volunteer of the Year at tonight’s 2026 Sir John Monash Awards!

Ed has volunteered as WGC’s Treasurer for more than 30 years, playing an integral role in our Club’s journey from just 70 gymnasts to the community of more than 2,600 gymnasts we have today. Ed has coordinated 23 Monash Rotary raffles, raising funds of over $150,000 to invest in club equipment, with the goal of keeping participation costs as affordable as possible.

With his own grandchildren having been part of Waverley over the years, Ed has seen firsthand the impact gymnastics can have on young people and has dedicated more than three decades to making his own positive contribution to our Club and wider community.

Tonight will also see a familiar Waverley face return to the Sir John Monash Awards. 💙

Following her incredible recognition in 2025 as Volunteer of the Year and the overall Outstanding Leadership Award recipient, WGC Inclusion Mentor Dr Natasha Brusco has been invited back to present the 2026 Outstanding Leadership Award.

Natasha will be joined by her son George, whose story inspired the creation of George’s Gymnastics Inclusion Program, as she reflects on the impact of volunteering and community participation, and the importance of recognising those who help make our community stronger and more connected.

We are incredibly proud to see members of the Waverley community recognised for the contributions they make beyond the gym.

Our ALP Level 5 and Level 7 gymnasts were back on the competition floor for the 2026 Judges Invitational, on Sunday 9th August, and what a difference a week can make! ❤️💙

Taking everything they learned from their season opener into competition number two, the girls delivered stronger routines, greater composure and some outstanding results across the day.

From many stuck beam routines for our Level 5s to multiple individual podium finishes across both levels, there was plenty to celebrate – including 🥉 3rd place team finishes for Waverley Level 5 Blue and Level 7 Red! 🌟

We’re incredibly proud of the way the girls continue to build with every opportunity they get on the competition floor. Congratulations to all of our gymnasts and coaches on another successful event! 👏

Only 4 more days until our Educational gymnasts take to the floor for the first weekend of our annual GFA Competition!

This week is all about building confidence, fine-tuning routines and enjoying the final preparations before the big day.

We can't wait to cheer on every one of our gymnasts over the next two weekends! 💙❤️

From the Commonwealth Games stage back home to Waverley! 🇦🇺

It was incredibly special to welcome Emily and Breanna back to the gym and bring our WGC community together to hear them share some of their favourite moments and experiences from an unforgettable Games.

There was even a chance to get up close with their gold medals - a pretty incredible moment for our gymnasts to hold a little piece of Commonwealth Games history in their own hands! 🥇✨

And while we’re still celebrating everything Em and Bre achieved in Glasgow, there’s little time to slow down. Both are already back in the gym and working hard towards their next challenge - the World Championships!
