πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ City-Bay done! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Same 12 km. Very different reasons for running it.

For one, 12 km used to feel intimidating. Today, they were well prepared for it.

For another, it was a goal along the way to HYROX in December.

One was told years ago by β€œexperts” they’d never run 12 km. Today was their third City-Bay.

One has improved her running enough to complete it alongside her son.

And one was simply out there to support someone else and help them hit their goal time.

Different starting points. Different goals. Same finish line.

Awesome work, team! πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

πŸŽ‰ 200 Classes for Charlie! πŸŽ‰

This might be one of our more challenging 200-class milestones to achieve.

Not because Charlie doesn't train regularly.

Because he lives about 3.5 hours away!

Charlie works as a farmer, so we usually only get to see him when he's in Adelaide for work or visiting family. It's never as often as he'd like, which makes it a nice surprise whenever the gentle giant walks through the doors for a class.

But being 3.5 hours away hasn't stopped Charlie from being part of FIIT Project.

He's set up his own gym at home and follows our class programming remotely, using the scores from everyone back at the gym as a bit of extra motivation.

It's always great to see Charlie's name pop up on the leaderboard.

We might not physically see him in class, but we know he's out there getting the work done and continuing to progress towards his goals.

He's also made great use of our challenges to give his training a little extra purpose.

Earlier this year, Charlie took on our 100km rowing challenge, where members had a month to accumulate 100km individually or as a team.

Doing it solo meant some pretty long rowing sessions to stay on track πŸ˜…, but having the deadline gave him something to work towards and he got it done.

And whenever Charlie is actually in the gym, he's one of the friendliest people you'll meet.

He's even managed to spread the FIIT Project bug to the next generation, encouraging his daughter to give us a try.

It only took one session and she was hooked too. πŸ˜‚

200 classes might have taken a little longer when you live 3.5 hours away, but there's been plenty of training happening between those visits.

Congratulations, Charlie.

Thanks for continuing to be such a big part of our community, even from a few hundred kilometres away. πŸ’™

Joining a gym shouldn't mean you're on your own from day one.

Here's the equipment. Here's the timetable. Good luck. πŸ‘‹

For some people, that's enough.

But if you're trying to build consistency, work around injuries or actually reach a specific goal, you might need more than gym access.

Someone should understand what you're trying to achieve.

You should have a plan that fits your life.

You should feel comfortable with the movements before your first class.

Your coaches should know about any injuries or limitations.

And someone should check in along the way to make sure what you're doing is actually working.

Add in a community of people who also value their health and fitness, and staying consistent becomes a whole lot easier.

You still have to do the work.

But you shouldn't have to figure everything out yourself.

That's what we've tried to build at FIIT Project.

πŸŽ‰ Milestone Thursday: 1700 & 2100 Classes! πŸŽ‰

Two of our longest-standing members have reached two absolutely massive milestones.

1700 classes for Gunna.
2100 classes for Dave.

If you've spent any time in our 6am classes over the years, you'll know these two.

They're strong. They're fit. They're skilled. And they're both more than capable of going hard in just about any workout we put in front of them.

But that's not what makes them such great examples of what we teach at FIIT Project.

It's knowing when NOT to go hard.

Years ago, we had a pretty competitive group training at 6am. Every workout was a race. Every lifting day meant going heavy. If you could do the prescribed workout, you did it.

The problem?

People would smash themselves for a day or two, then need a couple of days off because they were sore, stiff or dealing with another niggle.

We knew that wasn't how we wanted people to train long term.

So we started deliberately building a culture around scaling.

How you train today should depend on how you're feeling, your goals, what you've already done this week and what you've got coming up.

Gunna and Dave were two of the earliest to really embrace that approach.

And they're proud to tell you when they're taking it easy. πŸ˜‚

Some days they'll be at the front of the pack.

Other days they'll deliberately reduce the weight, change a movement or back off the intensity.

There's no ego attached to it.

Having two of the strongest and fittest people in the gym train this way has helped set the standard for everyone else.

Scaling isn't failing.

You don't need to prove how fit you are every time you walk through the door.

You need to train in a way that allows you to keep walking through that door for years to come.

1700 and 2100 classes are pretty good evidence that the approach works.

Congratulations Gunna and Dave. Two incredible milestones and, more importantly, two great examples of what sustainable training at FIIT Project is all about. πŸ’™

Ever joined a gym and then realised you were basically on your own?

You've got access to the equipment.

Maybe you've been shown around.

Now you just have to work out what to do, how often to do it and whether it's actually helping you reach your goals.

For some people, that's all they need.

For others, there's a better way.

We think a gym should take the time to learn about your goals, lifestyle, training history, injuries and what's stopped you getting results in the past.

You should be taught how to train before being thrown into your first class.

Someone should check in to see if what you're doing is actually working.

And when your goals change, your plan should be able to change with you.

Then there's the part that's much harder to put on a program.

Being surrounded by people who make looking after your health and fitness feel normal.

That's what we've tried to build at FIIT Project.

Not just somewhere to exercise, but somewhere designed to help you keep moving towards your goals.

We've gone into more detail in our latest blog.

πŸŽ‰ 500 Classes for Trang! πŸŽ‰

Three years ago, Trang joined FIIT Project with a pretty simple goal.

She wanted to get her shoulder stronger.

She'd been dealing with pain and had already made some progress working with an exercise physiologist, but was looking for the next step.

Understandably, she was apprehensive about doing too much with it.

So we started where she was comfortable and gradually built from there.

As her strength improved, the pain decreased.

Her range of motion improved.

Her confidence grew.

And slowly, the list of things she was worried about doing became the list of things she could do again.

Fast forward 500 classes and, if you saw Trang training today, you'd have no idea she'd ever had an issue with her shoulder.

She's lifting weights overhead, doing push-ups pain-free and has even achieved an unassisted pull-up! πŸ’ͺ

But Trang's impact at FIIT Project goes well beyond what she does in class.

She's a busy working professional, mum and wife, but continues to make the gym a priority because she knows it makes her a better mum and a better person to be around.

She's one of the first names down whenever we announce a social event and, when costumes are involved, you can guarantee she's going all in. πŸ˜‚ She's taken home her fair share of Best Dressed prizes over the years.

And earlier this year, Trang added another title to the collection: championship-winning captain, leading her team through our four-week internal competition with an extremely well-organised team effort.

500 classes represents a lot more than getting fitter.

It's going from being apprehensive about using your shoulder to doing pull-ups.

It's making time for yourself when life is busy.

It's friendships, social events, ridiculous costumes and being part of a community.

Congratulations on 500 classes, Trang.

We're incredibly grateful for everything you bring to FIIT Project and can't wait to see what the next 500 bring. πŸ’™

πŸŽ‰ 1000 CLASSES FOR JUSTIN! πŸŽ‰

One thousand classes.

Take a moment to think about what that really means.

One thousand early mornings.

One thousand decisions to show up.

One thousand opportunities to become a little fitter, a little stronger, and a little healthier.

Justin has been part of the FIIT Project family for more than 10 years, making him one of our longest-standing members.

What makes this milestone even more impressive is that for around eight of those years, Justin worked FIFO and was only in Adelaide for two weeks out of every four.

Instead of using that as an excuse, he made the most of every week he was home, fitting in as many classes as he could before heading back to work.

These days, Justin is working in Adelaide full-time. Shift work still means his schedule changes regularly, but one thing hasn't changed.

He continues to prioritise his health and fitness.

If you've ever met Justin, you'll know he represents everything we hope FIIT Project can be.

He's one of the first people to introduce himself to a new member, make them feel welcome, and have a genuine conversation with them.

He's a regular at our social events, always up for a laugh, and has built some incredible friendships through the gym.

Over the past decade, Justin has achieved so much.

He's competed in CrossFit competitions.

Completed a half marathon.

Taken on True Grit.

And later this year he'll tackle his first HYROX Doubles event alongside a close mate he met right here at FIIT Project.

That's what 1000 classes is really about.

Yes, it's an incredible fitness milestone.

But it's also about the friendships you've built, the memories you've created, and the person you've become along the way.

Justin, thank you for being such an important part of FIIT Project over the past decade.

Your positivity, consistency, and willingness to make everyone feel welcome have helped shape the community we have today.

Congratulations on an incredible 1000 classes. Here's to the next thousand! πŸ’™

What's the best diet?

The one you'll still be following six months from now.

Too many people quit because they're trying to be perfect.

Tracking every calorie.

Cutting out all the foods they enjoy.

Trying to follow someone else's plan.

Instead, find an approach that fits your lifestyle.

For some people that's tracking calories.

For others it's writing meals in a notebook, taking a photo of their food, or simply focusing on eating more protein.

The method matters far less than your ability to stick with it.

Consistency beats perfection every time.

Swipe through for some simple ideas to help you find an approach that works for you.
