Thatās not because my life is badā¦
Itās actually pretty goodā¦
But āpretty goodā isnāt the same as curious, exciting, interesting & aliveā¦
So, Iām paying more attention to the little things that make think, āIād like to do that!āā¦
And then, when I can, Iām doing themā¦
Thatās what the Golden Gap Year means to meā¦

For me, TEA - šŗļø Travel, šExperiences & š§āāļø Adventure - is about staying curiousā¦
Itās a reason to step out of autopilotā¦
āļø book the trip
āļø try the cheese-making course
āļø go to the opera
āļø say yes to something Iāve never done before
āļø have coffee with someone Iāve just met
āļø take myself somewhere Iāve never been before
Sometimes the experience is amazing, sometimes itās just OK & occasionally I think, āWell, I donāt need THAT again!ā š ā¦
But every experience tells me somethingā¦
āļø what excites me
āļø what challenges me
āļø what energises me
āļø what Iāve outgrown
āļø what I want more of
And sometimesā¦
š what I didnāt even know I wanted
Thatās what I love about staying curiousā¦
Youāre not just adding more things to your life, youāre discovering more about yourselfā¦
And maybe thatās why Iām passionate about Travel, Experiences & Adventureā¦
āļø not as a bucket-list
āļø not as things to tick off
But as a way of asking: āWhat else is possible?!āā¦
Whatās your TEA fix at the moment?!

Which is both exciting & sometimes terrifying š ā¦
The Golden Gap Year certainly didnāt arrive as a perfectly formed business ideaā¦
Itās evolved as Iāve evolvedā¦
Iāve tried things, run workshops, talked to women, changed my messaging, created guides, built a membership, planned retreats, scrapped ideas, had new ones, changed direction AND Iām still figuring it out šāāļø ā¦
But maybe thatās the pointā¦
Iām not sure I want to wait until I know exactly what Iām doing before I startā¦
Sometimes you start, then you learn, then you adjustā¦
And thatās actually how Iām approaching this whole phase of lifeā¦
Iām curious about what I can create, what I might learn, who I might meet, what might surprise me, what might not work AND where it might take meā¦
Because reinvention doesnāt necessarily mean throwing everything away & becoming someone completely differentā¦
Sometimes itās simple asking: āWhatās next for me?!ā & being willing to explore the answerā¦
SO, yes, Iām building a business in my 60s AND Iām still figuring out whatās possible šāāļø ā¦

And somewhere amongst all of that, Iām still figuring things outā¦
What I want, what I donāt want, whatās next, what Iām curious aboutā¦
I think thatās one of the things I love about this next phase of lifeā¦
There isnāt necessarily a script anymoreā¦
You get to experiment, try things, change your mind, start something, stop something, say yes, say noā¦
And see what happensā¦
Thatās my kind of āgolden gap yearāā¦
A life thatās still being writtenā¦
What have you been up to lately?!

I donāt know whatās next š¤·āāļø ā¦
There, Iāve said itā¦
Iām in my 60s, building a business, teaching, travelling, trying new thingsā¦
Iāve got ideas coming out of my earsā¦
And I still donāt have some beautifully mapped out plan for the next 10 years š¤·āāļø ā¦
And actually, Iām OK with thatā¦
Because Iām not sure I do want to knowā¦
I like the curiosity ofā¦
⨠Whatās around the corner?
⨠What could I try?
⨠Who might I meet?
⨠Where might I go?
⨠What might I create?
Maybe āwhatās next?!ā doesnāt have to be a question we answer once & for all š¤·āāļø ā¦
Maybe itās a question we keep asking š¤·āāļø ā¦
What are you curious about right now?!

Last weekend, I went to the operaā¦
A few days later, I did a cheese-making courseā¦
Neither was particularly life-changing, but thatās not really the pointā¦
Iāve become increasingly interested in what happens when I say yes to something I havenāt done beforeā¦
Sometimes itās brilliant, sometimes itās just OK, sometimes it introduces you to something you want more of AND sometimes it confirms something you definitely donātā¦
But every experience gives you informationā¦
And I think thatās one of the best things about getting olderā¦
You know yourself better, but you donāt stop discovering yourselfā¦
SO, Iām making a point of keeping some curiosity in my life, trying new things, going places, meeting people, learning, saying yesā¦
Not because I have a bucket list to complete, but because Iām still curious about whatās possibleā¦
And Iām wondering, whatās something youāve said YES to lately that you wouldnāt normally have done?!

šāāļø: āWhat do you want this next phase to look like?!ā
What surprised me wasnāt that they all had different answersā¦
It was how much they valued simply having the space to talk about itā¦
āļø no PowerPoint
āļø no 10-step plan
āļø no telling them what they should do next
Just good questions, honest conversation & a group of women thinking out loud togetherā¦
And itās got me thinking - maybe we donāt need more advice about what to do nextā¦
Maybe we need more spaces to work it out together because sometimes when you have the space to pause, talk & listen to other women asking some of the same questions, possibilities start to open upā¦
And maybe thatās where the next chapter beginsā¦

So she did!!!
And then she went back the next dayā¦
And the next, and the next, and the nextā¦
For 103 days straight, she walked the same rock & took a photoā¦
Same rock - 103 photosā¦.
When she told me this story, she said it was like someone had flicked a switchā¦
That one small daily commitment started something she couldnāt have predictedā¦
She began making decisions for herself - on the moment, without overthinking, without waiting for the ārightā timeā¦
And slowly, her world started to expandā¦
Fast forward to today - spontaneous trips, sky diving, zip lining, singing in a cafe, walking through a rain forestā¦
All from a walk to a rockā¦
Itās a reminder that sometimes we donāt need a huge life overhaulā¦
We just need one small promise to ourselvesā¦
One step, one choice, one āwhy notāā¦
Your rock is waitingā¦
Whatās yours?!

Not your partner, not your kids, not your boss, not even the version of yourself whoās spent the last 20 years doing what needed to be doneā¦
But hereās what midlife does give you - a chance to stop waiting for itā¦
The kids may be more independent, the career chapter may be evolving, the people-pleasing is exhaustingā¦
And somewhere underneath all those roles & responsibilities, thereās a version of you whoās been quietly waiting her turnā¦
Thatās not a crisis, thatās a callingā¦
You donāt need permission, you donāt need a perfect plan - you just need to take the first stepā¦
Your next chapter isnāt about becoming someone new, itās about finally making space for the woman youāve always beenā¦
Whatās the one thing youād do if you stopped waiting for the green light?!
