The Bears are looking for a coach for Women's Third Grade and our new Metro Competition team. This role would be ideally suited to a member of the Bears family (such as a partner or family member of a player, or a former player) who would like to contribute actively to the club and build up their coaching experience under the guidance of our qualified and experienced coaches. But we'd love to hear from anyone who is interested.

The coach will attend Wednesday evening training sessions and work primarily with our lower grade players both in the nets and in fielding drills. Attendance at some matchdays (Third Grade on Saturdays, Metro Competition on Sundays) is also preferred. We can discuss the time commitment and distribution of time which works best.

A strong practical understanding of the foundational skills of cricket, a positive attitude, excellent communication, keenness to develop the skills of players with a range of experience levels (including those new to competitive cricket) and a valid Working with Children Check are all essential. Formal coaching experience and a qualification are a bonus.

Please email Sarah ([email protected]) if you're interested.

A very special representative selection! We're delighted that our own Abbey Aitken has been selected in the Australia Under 18 squad for the Indoor Cricket World Series to be held in South Africa in September/October this year, after strong performances in the recent National Championships.

Abbey will need to raise funds to compete, so watch this space for how you can support her. If you have a business which would like to sponsor Abbey for the season or contribute in any other way then please send us a DM.

Huge congratulations, Abbey - we're very proud of you!

The Bears are thrilled to announce that James Campbell was at this evening’s AGM unanimously elected as our 52nd Life Member.

James became a North Sydney cricketer at the age of 5, and has been a member of the senior club since 2006. Since spearheading our Premiership-winning Second Grade attack in 2010/11, he has been a constant of our First Grade side.

James has taken 359 First Grade wickets at 26.76 with 11 5-wicket hauls, as well as scoring over 1,000 runs (a milestone he’s very proud of!) and earning a First Grade Limited Overs Cup Premiership in 2012/13.

After 20 years of loyal service to the Bears, we are delighted to recognise James with a very well-deserved life membership.

Congratulations to Jordan Netto, who last week made his T20 international debut for Portugal against Sweden, and is now playing a series against Finland.

Portugal are unbeaten so far, and against Finland, Jordy has made 37 off 35 and 41 off 29. The tour finishes with a double header today.
