Tier-1 Games Qualification Shoots

I just filmed both Tier-1 Games qualification shoots.

The first video shows a modified version—shot from standing. The prescribed version requires shooting from the prone. We’ll film that as written and upload it to the website in the coming weeks.

These are simple drills—but they serve a purpose.

They test fundamental firearm handling under time pressure, and more importantly, reinforce the standards of compliance, safety and competency that underpin everything we do.

Tier-1 is built on performance and discipline. You don’t need to be tactical. You need to be safe, competent, and committed to raising the standard.

We don’t just compete for trophies - we compete to serve.

Leadership. My first taste of what it takes to be a combat leader was from Major Paul Burns OC 1 Sqadron SASR, in Iraq 2003. The speech he gave prior to invading Iraq made every man in that squadron willing to go to hell and back with him if required.

22 years ago, today.

Know your exit before you make your entrance. Whether entering a room, launching a business, or engaging in combatives, always have your ‘out’ clearly mapped.

Why? Because plans rarely survive first contact with reality—and adaptability demands knowing exactly how you’ll pivot or exit if things go sideways.

A clear exit strategy isn’t pessimism; it’s wisdom. It frees you to act decisively and boldly, knowing you’ve planned your way home before you ever stepped out the door.

Know your exits. Stay adaptable. Never be trapped.

Train with Purpose. Live with Intent.

A professional doesn’t just go through the motions—they train with intent. Every rep, every drill, every piece of kit refined and tested serves a greater purpose.

Define your higher goal. Why are you training? What are you preparing for? Without a clear purpose, effort is just movement. With purpose, it becomes mastery.

The higher the goal, and the more consequence related to it, then the more focused or intentional your intent becomes.

Drill the fundamentals until they are second nature. Expose yourself to real-world scenarios. Test, adjust, refine. But always through the lens of your greater mission—because not all work is worth doing, and not all effort moves you forward.

Move with intent. Train with purpose. Forge the mindset that ensures when the time comes, you are ready.
