WHY IT MATTERS THAT SOMEONE IS WATCHING
As we head towards our End of Year Concerts, we wanted to share something we perhaps don’t talk about enough… The importance of having someone in the audience who has come just to watch you.
We completely understand the thought…
“We’ll buy the video. Grandma and Grandpa can watch it later.”
And of course, having a beautiful recording of the concert is wonderful. But a recording can never replace the feeling of walking onto that stage knowing that, somewhere out there, someone you love is watching you.
Someone came just for you.
Children look for their people in the audience. They wonder whether you saw their favourite part. They can’t wait to find you afterwards and hear:
“I saw you!”
“You were amazing!”
“I’m so proud of you!”
And that moment after the show, when they walk out of the stage door and find their family and friends waiting for them, congratulating them and making a fuss of them… It’s priceless.
For that little while, they get to feel like an absolute ROCKSTAR. 🌟
And they deserve it.
They’ve spent months learning, practising, remembering corrections, working as a team and building the confidence to step onto a stage in front of hundreds of people.
Even after all my years of producing concerts — and I’m not even the one performing! — there is still something incredibly special about knowing that someone I love is sitting in the audience, watching what we’ve created.
It matters to me.
So imagine how much it matters to a child. 💜
Concerts aren’t simply about putting children on a stage. They’re about giving them an experience!
Years from now, they may not remember every step they danced. But they may very well remember looking out into that audience and knowing their people were there.
So, if you can, invite Grandma and Grandpa. Invite the aunties and uncles. Invite the godparents, family friends, older siblings and special people in their lives.
Fill those seats with people who love them.
Because, for one special day…
let them feel like the star of the show. 🌟💜
