Swansea Belmont SLSC Nippers

Swansea Swim Centre’s 50 metre pool will be replaced after detailed investigations uncovered extensive corrosion within the existing structure.
While this wasn’t the outcome we hoped for, the project will deliver a brand-new pool that will serve local families, swimmers and visitors for years to come.

I know the closure will be disappointing for many pool users, but expert advice made it clear that replacement is the only viable long-term solution.

Council remains committed to delivering learn to swim pools at both Swansea and Morisset in the future.

With the Swansea pool replacement now moving ahead, I look forward to working with Council to investigate whether there are opportunities to deliver the learn to swim pool sooner.

I was grateful for the opportunity to meet today with representatives from Friends of Swansea Pool and Lake Macquarie Dolphins Water Polo, alongside Council staff, to explain the situation in more detail and answer their questions.

Council will continue working with user groups to support alternative arrangements during construction and keep the community updated as the project progresses.
