πŸ† CONGRATULATIONS ROLO! πŸ†

We want to send a massive shout out and congratulations to an absolute champion bloke, Mat "Rolo" Rolston", from our friends across the Hunter River at the Stockton Sharks Football

Rolo is hitting a monumental milestone of 350 games this Saturday. Anyone who knows local football knows just how much of a legend he is both on the field and off it. He’s a top-tier guy and a great friend to many of us here at Mayfield United JSFC.

Milestones like this take serious dedication, and the entire Newcastle Football community is better off for having guys like Rolo in it. Massive congratulations from all of us at Mayfield Juniors, mate! πŸ”΄πŸ”΅ 🀝 🟒βšͺ️

(Psstβ€”for any of our Mayfield families who want to go over and help celebrate a true local legend, he’ll be taking the field this Saturday at 11AM over at Corroba Oval Stockton. Head on down and give him a cheer if you're free between junior games!)

THREE FIVE ZERO πŸ¦ˆπŸ’™β€οΈ

350 Games. One Club. One Incredible Legacy.

This Saturday marks the end of an incredible era as Matt 'Rolo' Rolston laces up his Sharks boots for the very last time.

In his final match for Stockton Sharks Football Club, he'll celebrate an extraordinary 350 senior games and 100 Third Grade games - a milestone that reflects decades of dedication, loyalty and service to the club he's called home since joining as a four-year-old Shark. Thirty-five years later, he's still proudly wearing the red and blue.

Rolo represents everything that is Stockton. Born and raised in the town he loves, he's always wanted the very best for the community that shaped him. His commitment to the Sharks has never just been about football; it's been about giving back, creating opportunities for others and ensuring future generations can proudly wear the jersey.

When the club was on its knees, Rolo never walked away. He rolled up his sleeves, stayed committed and helped keep Stockton Sharks alive. His passion, resilience and unwavering belief have helped rebuild and strengthen the club we proudly call home today.

His contribution extends far beyond the playing field. Joining the committee at just 14 years of age, Rolo has filled almost every role imaginable, volunteered countless hours as a coach, mentored players of all ages and always stepped up whenever the club needed him.

No journey like this happens alone. A heartfelt thank you to fellow Life Members Geoff and Marilyn Rolston, whose unwavering support of both Rolo and the Sharks has been there every step of the way.

Statistics tell only part of the story. 350 senior games. 100 games in every grade. Countless memories. But they don't define the person. Rolo's legacy is measured in the people he's inspired, the club he's helped keep alive and the community he's helped build.

This Saturday isn't just another game. It's the final chapter of one of the greatest playing careers in Stockton Sharks history.

Rolo is our club's credo.

Community - a town he loves.
Pathways - from a baby Shark to a First Grade captain.
Pride - a prouder Shark you simply will not meet.

Thank you, Rolo, for your loyalty, leadership and selflessness. You haven't just played for the Sharks - you've helped shape what this club stands for.

Congratulations on an incredible career. Once a Shark, always a Shark. Forever a Shark. πŸ¦ˆπŸ’™β€οΈ

**A big shout out to former Sharks media manager, Laurie Moody for stepping in to ghost write this for Rolo as he did not want a bar of writing this himself.

SHARKS COMMUNITY GOAL OF THE WEEK
🦈❀️ THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A SHARK ❀️🦈

At Stockton Sharks, our club is built on several pillars and we talk a lot about football being more than wins, losses and ladders.

On the weekend, our Under 13-2 Sharks showed exactly what that means.

Playing against our great friends over at Mayfield United Junior Soccer Football Club , one of their players, Coby, who has Down syndrome, was given a moment he'll never forget.

Our Sharks coordinated amongst themselves on the field, for Coby to score goal of the century. Coby was unplayable and no one could touch him. Our Sharks chased, defended and attempted to tackle, but he was too fast and too good, running the length to score a goal that was impossible for the Sharks keeper to save!

The goal brought smiles, cheers and, by all reports, plenty of tears from those watching. Only this photo was snapped, unfortunately no video, as from what we are told, the parents were in awe and all too busy wiping away tears as they watched it unfold.

A proud Sharks coach, Jai Manns, informed the club of this Saturday night and we didn't know this moment would be shared beyond the field. Today we received a heartfelt email from Mayfield & Newcastle Football thanking our players and recognising the culture they witnessed.

To our Under 13-2 Sharks, your coaches and your families – we couldn't be prouder.

You showed that football has the power to bring people together, create lifelong memories and remind us all why community sport is so important.

Goals are celebrated every weekend, but some mean so much more than the result on the scoreboard.

Well done to Coby on his special moment, and well done to every Shark who helped make it happen.

Mr Rolston has told us how proud he is of you Coby and he hopes that you celebrated hard and let those Sharks know who you are! Socceroos need another goal scorer!

This is respect.
This is inclusion.
This is community.
This is what it means to be a Shark.

πŸ”΄πŸ”΅ Proud of our Sharks. Proud of our football community. πŸ”΄πŸ”΅
