It all comes down to this.

After a pulsating win at home last Saturday over Knox, we approach the final round of the season facing a simple equation.

Win, and the title is ours. Draw or lose, and it is out of our hands.

Standing in our way is a Waverley side still in the hunt for promotion after their win last night to Mooroolbark, and who will be guaranteed to bring it all to stop our title charge. The reverse fixture earlier this season was an absolute doozy, with a last minute winner granting us the points, so this one is set to be a classic! We need all the help we can get to make sure we get over the line, so make sure to get on down to Larpent Reserve to see if the boys can secure our first league title in a decade!

Wrapping up the second last round of the season for our juniors.

A massive congratulations to our U12s, whose 4-0 win saw them crowned league champions!! They did so winning 10 of their 11 games with an impressive goal difference of +61. A special congratulations to coach and senior player Rabeh Salahaldeen for his hard work with the squad. 🏆🏆

FULL TIME: 3-0 WIN

In what can only be described as a complete performance, the boys were on it from the jump. On the prowl for an early goal from kick off, the boys were working it out nicely from the back and through midfield, with Joe O’Connor having the game of his life up top, locking in everything and playing his wingers and midfielders with his back to goal. The immense pressure put on Knox in the first half eventually paid off, with a ball from Rabeh Salahaldin finding Archie Lindsay, whose ridiculous header found the back of the net. A vicious strike from Themi Kapnias struck the woodwork to deny us a second, and the boys went into the sheds 1-0 up.

The second half started just as it left off, and a goal inside the hour to Sean Kilbane gave us the two goal buffer we were craving, with Sean’s initial header being cleared off the line but promptly being swept into the back of the net. From there, Knox threw everything at us, and the boys defended like lions, from Andrew Mensah on one leg in goals, to the back four, midfield, and attack. Wave after wave of Knox attacks were repelled, and the boys eventually got their third goal after Ryan Foster broke behind the last defender and coolly finished 1 on 1 to seal an incredible game of football.

The job is still not done though, and a win is needed to seal the title next week against Waverley Wanderers away. Make sure to get on down to Larpent Reserve at 3pm to see if the boys can go all the way!

After clinching promotion last weekend, our boys look ahead quickly to what is undoubtedly the game of our season so far. Saturday will see us host for the final time in season 2026, as we take on league leaders Knox City at 3pm. Knox are a point ahead of us, so the equation is simple:

We win - we are ahead by two points going into the final round
Draw - Knox are ahead going into the final round
We lose - Knox are champions

We need everyone to get down on Saturday to cheer the boys on as they fight to get into the box seat going into the final round of the season. This is one not to miss, as Saturday’s match will go a long way in deciding who wins the league. Tell your family, tell your friends, and make sure you’re there.

A great vibe at Freeway Reserve yesterday with 9 home games. The sun was shining, the music pumping, the bbq cooking and the ground was bustling all day! Well done to all the teams and thank you to coaches, team managers and parents for helping out 😊☀️

FULL TIME: 2-0 WIN

With promotion secured, the boys kept their focus and brought home the three points with an assured 2-0 win over Mooroolbark. Two first half strikes from Ryan Foster and Joe O’Connor got us going early, and an excellent team performance spearheaded by our defence and keeper ensured that we remain in the title race.

We now look forward to an enormous clash at home next weekend against top side Knox City, where the title will likely be decided. A win to Knox wins them the title, with a draw keeping them on top and a win to us seeing us jump them for the final match week of the season. All to play for, but for now, we are going up!

WE ARE GOING UP

A draw between Berwick and Casey tonight has meant that we have secured promotion and will return to State League 1 at the first time of asking!

What an incredible season it’s been for the club - a tremendous achievement that reflects the hard work that has gone in both on and off the pitch by our players, coaches, committee, volunteers, supporters and sponsors.

In saying that, the job is nowhere near finished. Three huge games stand in between us and a championship, starting with Mooroolbark away tomorrow afternoon. But for now, an enormous congratulations to everyone involved!

3 GAMES TO GO

After a last gasp draw against Noble Park last weekend, we turn our attention to Mooroolbark away this Saturday afternoon. With Knox 1 point ahead of us, and promotion guaranteed with a win, nothing short of three points is required as we look to confirm our return to State League 1 in 2027. In our way will be a plucky Mooroolbark side who are fighting relegation, and who made the reverse fixture extremely difficult for us last time out. It will take everything we’ve got and then some to come away with the win, so make sure to get on down to Esther Park to cheer the boys on to promotion
