Next weekend we have the Gold Coast One Day Challenge being held at William Duncan State School! These events are always great events for students to get involved in as there are two divisions:
Novice: For unrated players only - this is also perfect for players taking part in their first weekend event (think a step up from interschool competitions in most cases).
Open: For rated players and those seeking to get a rating (that are ready for the more competitive games).
15 minutes + 3 seconds per move added on the clocks and usually around 8 games played.
Come join the fun!

Wow! What a brilliant week we had last week with 308 registrations across the Under 8/10/12/18 Queensland Junior Championships!
So very proud of the team who worked some massive hours to put this event on and make sure everything ran smoothly. Staff at these events aren't just running a chess competition, they are managing hundreds of players and lots of emotions throughout, whilst ensuring that players have the best possible conditions possible to be able to play to their best.
Brilliant effort by Andrew, Michael B, Michael D and Martin in particular with all extra organising as well as being there each day, and to the arbiting team of Val, Luke, Jack, Iago, Yasmin, Mimi, Tony, and Eli.
Many thanks to the Chess Association of Queensland for once again trusting us to run this event.
Many thanks also to Anglican Church Grammar School Churchie for hosting the event once again in their fantastic spaces.
This week we have another crazy week.....Brisbane and Gold Coast Holiday Programs and Winter Cups, and of course the Gold Coast Open kicks off on Wednesday night for the Premier and Friday night for the Major and Minor.
We look forward to seeing everyone at these events!
