Practice: to support a life lived on purpose 🌿
Every time we step onto the yoga mat or sit on the meditation cushion, we’re making a conscious choice to shift out of autopilot and into presence.
From the outside, a personal practice might look like just another thing on the to-do list. But in truth, it changes everything ~ helping us take the steering wheel of our lives and live with awareness of where we are and where we’re going.
Just like skipping brushing your teeth eventually lands you in the dentist’s chair, neglecting a regular connection to yourself eventually leaves you feeling lost, stuck, or unsure of who you are.
For a life that feels rich, authentic, and whole, connection to yourself is essential. And it starts right here ~ with this breath, and the simple intention to Be, fully.

The Dharma House: studio update 🌿🌼
Spring is almost here! And we’ve got a few lovely things happening at the studio over the next little while.
We know spring is often a time when people start getting back into their practice (or finally decide to give yoga a go!), so we’ve been making a few little changes and adding some new things to the calendar.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing our refreshed timetable, with a few more opportunities to move: including more of the Solar-Lunar and Dynamic Hatha practices we know you love.
We’ve also got our new 4-week Beginners Yoga course starting Wednesday 30 September, plus our upcoming How to Meditate workshop on the 12th for anyone wanting to learn a little more about meditation or get back into a regular practice.
(Plus our big annual Spring sale on class passes is on the horizon…!)
We’ll share all the details individually over the next little while, but for now, that’s a little peek at what’s coming as we head into spring.
We can’t wait to celebrate this beautiful time of year with you at the studio!
(Ps. And for those who follow the annual journey of our beautiful yellow trees outside the studio… the first little flowers have started to appear! 🌼
We know what’s coming over the next few weeks: that one glorious week when they suddenly explode into yellow and we all spend far too much time looking out the studio windows! One of our favourite little signs that spring has arrived at The Dharma House. 😌)

MEET OUR TEACHERS: Marney 🌿
We are so happy to welcome Marney to the team! With a personal practice spanning more than 20 years and a number of years teaching yoga on the Gold Coast, she brings a whole lot of passion and experience to our community.
On our new Spring schedule, you can practice weekly with her in Solar-Lunar Hatha at 5:45pm Thursdays. Thank you for being here, Marney!
FOUR QUESTIONS WITH MARNEY:
🌿 Four words to describe you:
Loving, lighthearted, interested and happy
🌿 What can people expect in a class with you?
A steady, loving and traditional hatha or yin practice for all yogis - new or more seasoned. I love the philosophy behind our practice and will usually start and finish with mantra and intention setting, practice traditional poses and never skip savasana. I encourage students to honour thier own bodies and know that every day on our yoga mat is different. We will leave with a sense of connection and calm that we can take off the mat and into our daily lives.
🌿 Which of the yamas or niyamas do you most resonate with?
I have always connected with Ahimsa. The practice of non-violence in thought, word or deed. This extends from the way we practice yoga to the way we meet the world outside our practice. In essence it reminds us to practice compassion for all beings including ourselves.
🌿 When you’re not teaching or practicing, what are you usually up to?
I’m usually spending time with my husband & teenage children or playing with my fur babies. I also love to travel, write and spend time laughing with friends.

HOW TO MEDITATE: a practical workshop with Aimee 📿📚
~ SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER, 2:30PM ~
Curious about meditation, but not quite sure where to begin? Or perhaps you already meditate, but would like to understand your practice more deeply.
Join aimee.yoga ॐ for this practical 2.5-hour workshop exploring what meditation is, why we practice, and how to build a practice that supports you in everyday life.
We’ll explore meditation from both modern and traditional yogic perspectives, including its effects on the mind, body and nervous system, why meditation can sometimes feel difficult, and the role meditation has played within the yoga tradition for thousands of years.
You’ll also experience a range of simple meditation techniques, including concentration, breath and mantra practices, as well as Ta***ic approaches that work with the energetic body and the cultivation of qualities such as peace, clarity, courage and joy.
You’ll leave with a greater understanding of meditation, practical techniques to explore, and the confidence to begin, or deepen, your own practice.
No previous meditation experience is required.
