Mudgee Miniature Railway

SUNDAY 11th JANUARY 2026

The Mudgee Miniature Railway will be operating this Sunday, 11th January, from 10 am till 2 pm ( weather permitting ).

We are located at 530 Ulan Rd, Buckaroo, at the corner of Ulan Rd & Buckaroo Rd, approx 6 kms from the Mudgee town centre.

There are picnic tables available and 'Old Wheels Grind' will be there and will be selling coffee ( to cater for your caffeine needs ) as well as freshly cooked doughnuts and cold soft drinks & water.

If the day is cancelled for any reason, we will post the cancellation notice on our page on Sunday morning so check our page after about 7-30 am on Sunday morning.

Please see our page for the details regarding the cost of fares to ride on the trains.

Please remember to wear fully enclosed shoes if you wish to ride on the train and we accept EFTPOS & cash. There is no need to book, just roll up & purchase your ride ticket/s.

As the day will be warm ( putting it mildly ) remember that 'Old Wheels Grind' will have cold drinks, including water, for sale on the day. It will be important to stay hydrated on a hot day.

SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2025

The Mudgee Miniature Railway will be operating this Sunday, 9th November, from 10 am till 2 pm ( weather permitting ).

There are picnic tables available and 'Old Wheels Grind' will be there and will be selling coffee ( to cater for your caffeine needs ) as well as freshly cooked doughnuts and soft drinks.

If the day is cancelled due to the weather, we will post the cancellation notice on our page on Sunday morning so check our page after about 7-30 am on Sunday morning.

VINTAGE TRAIN TO GLOUCESTER
Sat 21st March 2026

The Mudgee Miniature Railway is running a train trip on Saturday 21st March 2026 from Newcastle to Gloucester & return using these CPH rail motors that were introduced into service in 1923.
The train will depart Broadmeadow at 8 am and will travel along the scenic North Coast railway line to Gloucester. The train will stop at Paterson on the journey to Gloucester where you can have a look around the depot of The Rail Motor Society Inc where maintenance & restoration work is carried out on the historic rail motors.
Upon arrival at Gloucester, buses will transport you into town where you can look around, purchase your lunch etc before the buses take you back to the railway station for the return trip to Newcastle.
The cost for the trip is $115 per person and this includes train travel, Rail Motor Society depot visit and bus transfers at Gloucester.
Tickets can be booked by paying the full amount with the booking or with a deposit of at least 10% of the total fare with the balance due by 21st February 2026.
All funds raised will be used by the Mudgee Miniature Railway for ongoing maintenance & improvements at our miniature railway facility in Mudgee.
The train will also pick up & drop off at Maitland.

The Mudgee Miniature Railway will be operating this Sunday, 19th October, from 10 am till 2 pm ( weather permitting ).
We are located at 530 Ulan Rd, Buckaroo, at the corner of Ulan Rd & Buckaroo Rd, approx 6 kms from the Mudgee town centre.

There are picnic tables available so feel free to bring your own picnic to enjoy at the grounds. Unfortunately, the coffee van is not available at this running day - sorry about that.

ANNUAL NIGHT RUN
Sat 4th Oct 2025

Do you want something different to do with the kiddies this long weekend? Then come and join us for our once a year public night run.

When - This coming Saturday, 4th October 2025
Time - 4:30pm until 9pm.
Where - Mudgee Miniature Railway, Cnr Ulan Rd and Buckaroo Road ( Approx 6 kms from Mudgee town centre )
EFTPOS & cash accepted ( see our page for prices )

It's the perfect time of year for a late afternoon gathering. Come and set up for a picnic dinner (BYO of course), or a gathering with family and friends.
Unfortunately Old Wheels Grind will not be able to be present so there will no tea / coffee available to buy on the night. Please feel free to bring your own picnic tea with you to enjoy at the track.

Suggested List of things to bring.
Thermos of coffee / tea
Shoes - Fully enclosed shoes. No shoes = no rides
No alcohol allowed on the premises
Picnic gear - limited tables available
Warm clothes in case it gets cold.
Torch - after sunset it can be quite dark on the premises
The kids - Well, really.... I know we all enjoy the trains, but we better let the kiddies have some fun too!

FULLY ENCLOSED SHOES MUST BE WORN TO RIDE ON THE TRAINS.

Hello all
Unfortunately, due to the increased cost of everything, we have reluctantly been forced to increase our ride ticket costs. The new fares can be found on our page and you will see that it is only a small rise per ride. We hope that everyone understands about the rising costs of operating our railway and please note that this is the 1st fare increase since 2001.
On a happier note, we now have EFTPOS facilities so we can accept both card & cash payments
