Jay's Transformation 💪

12.4KG down in 10 months — but the number on the scales only tells part of the story.
There was no dieting — I hate that word 😂
No calorie counting. No starving. No removing foods he enjoys.
Instead:

• 🍽️ Mindful eating — learning to listen to his body's hunger and fullness signals
• 💧 Hydration — plenty of water and green tea to start the day
• 🏋️ Consistent exercise — showing up and putting in the work
• 🧠 Discipline & determination — building habits that are sustainable

I initially set Jay a target of 1KG per month.
He absolutely smashed that target — losing an average of 1.24KG per month — and has now reset his goals and is ready for the next chapter.

The biggest results aren't just physical.
Happier Dad.
Healthier Husband.
Stronger person.

Jay has been incredibly disciplined and determined throughout this journey, and it's been an absolute honour to help him and watch his transformation unfold.

This is what sustainable health looks like.
Don't chase a quick fix. Build a healthier life. ❤️‍🔥

Trees Acupuncture and Wellness is founded in the memory of Marni’s younger sister Tasha Rees (14‑3‑1974 to 6‑1‑2020). She was the one that inspired and encouraged Marni to continue her studies and follow her passion and life’s path."

Marni has completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Chinese Medicine), is a registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbal Medicine practitioner with AHPRA and a member of AACMA. Her maturity and life wisdom brings a caring and nurturing approach to her patients' health and well-being.

Marni discovered Chinese medicine on her own IVF journey after having a miscarriage even though the transfer was successful and the pregnancy had been confirmed. A good friend suggested Chinese medicine and acupuncture to help her prepare for the next transfer.

Marni had always been interested in natural therapies, so she booked an appointment and started treatment. This began Marni’s destiny from patient to practitioner. She now has two beautiful children and lives locally on the Mornington Peninsula.

Marni has special interests in women’s health, pregnancy and fertility and working with people wanting to expand their consciousness and mindfulness. She enjoys providing the tranquility of facial acupuncture treatments and working with people wanting support with energy, stress, anxiety, sleep, digestion, immunity and general well-being.

You can now book in with Marni on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our gym and members will receive an initial discounted rate.

The Danger of Overtraining....

In the busy world of health and fitness, sometimes more is not the answer. The rise of online programs 24/7 access to gyms, there is a silent danger often overlooked: overtraining. Let’s look into the hazards of overtraining in a gym environment, shedding light on the physical, mental, and emotional toll it can take on individuals.

Understanding Overtraining

Before diving into the perils, it's crucial to grasp the concept of overtraining. Overtraining occurs when the body is subjected to more stress and workload than it can adequately recover from. While pushing one's limits is an important aspect of fitness progression, crossing the threshold is counter-productive.

Physical Ramifications

One of the most glaring dangers of overtraining manifests in physical health. Constant strain on muscles, joints, and connective tissues without ample recovery leads to a myriad of issues. Chronic fatigue, persistent soreness, and increased susceptibility to injuries plague overtrained individuals. The body's ability to repair and rebuild diminishes, paving the way for overuse injuries such as tendinitis, stress fractures, and muscle strains.

Overtraining wreaks havoc on the immune system, leaving individuals vulnerable to illnesses. Elevated cortisol levels, a hallmark of overtraining, suppress immune function, opening the floodgates to infections.

Mental and Emotional Drain

Beyond the physical realm, overtraining takes a toll on mental and emotional well-being. The relentless pursuit of perfection often accompanies overtraining, leading to feelings of frustration, inadequacy, and burnout. As workouts become increasingly gruelling and progress stalls, individuals may find themselves trapped in a cycle of self-doubt and demotivation. With the wrong advice from some PTs, work harder, do more etc etc. This can compound problems

Striking a balance

Embrace holistic wellness practises such as adequate nutrition, hydration, rest days, sleep. By nurturing body and mind together you can fortify yourself from the perils of overtraining. The journey to fitness excellence is not a sprint but a Marathon, best enjoyed at a sustainable pace.

Measuring and recording numbers is crucial in the realm of personal training. It's not just about pumping iron and sweating it out; it's about tracking progress and achieving goals. Whether it's keeping tabs on weight lifted, reps completed, or body composition, these numbers provide valuable insights into the client's journey towards their fitness aspirations. By diligently recording these metrics, both the trainer and the client can accurately assess what's working, what needs adjustment, and ultimately, celebrate milestones along the way.

In the world of personal training, numbers aren't just digits; they're the markers of progress and the fuel for motivation. They serve as tangible evidence of hard work and dedication, driving clients towards their fitness objectives. By meticulously tracking these numbers, trainers can tailor workouts and nutritional plans to suit individual needs, ensuring optimal results. So, let's embrace the power of measurement and recording because in the pursuit of fitness, every number counts.
