Griffith Tennis Centre has officially transitioned to Southside Racquet Club, now proudly operated by Tennis Queensland.

For all future updates on court hire, coaching programs, fixtures, and social tennis, make sure you’re following the new Southside Racquet Club channels, where all centre news and info will now be shared. Our new website, email and phone will be activated from Saturday December 13.

To the Griffith University Tennis Centre community,

As you may be aware, Griffith University is well progressed in its exit from the Mt Gravatt campus. Teaching has moved off Mt Gravatt and a full exit is expected sometime in 2026.

The University has been looking for a provider to continue offering access to Mt Gravatt facilities. In positive news, Tennis Queensland will take over the day-to-day management and operation of the facility from Monday 5 January 2026. Tennis Queensland will be responsible for all services operating from the facility, including coaching, court hire, bookings and the pro shop.

Further information about Tennis Queensland operations will be shared soon however as part of this transition, the facility will be closed for court hire and bookings from Saturday 13 December 2025 re-opening Monday 5 January 2026.

While the change is approaching very quickly, we will work through this transition period as best we can. This is an exciting time however please be patient with staff especially given that with the implementation of this new agreement comes change. As part of this change, we will be saying farewell to our Tennis Centre Manager, Greg, who has been with us since 2010. Greg’s last day will be Thursday 11 December, we thank him for his overwhelming contribution to the success of the Centre, and we wish him nothing but the best for his future.

Griffith Sport has been proud to operate the Tennis Centre since it opened. We thank you for your patronage and hope that you continue to enjoy your tennis at the Centre! Please reach out if you have any questions.

Due to extreme weather conditions, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has advised there is a very high risk of a bushfire on our campuses today. The University are monitoring the situation closely and have a bushfire incident response plan in place should they need to act swiftly. As advised by Griffith University's Chief Operating Officer, all events scheduled on campus today should be cancelled or relocated if they involve large gatherings.

As such, Tennis Coaching, Social Tennis and Court Bookings have been cancelled for Monday 27 October and will be rescheduled.
