Maths in KinderGym: Explaining – Why?

Children are encouraged to talk about their thinking, share ideas and solve problems during KinderGym experiences. Our KinderGym set up support children to use mathematical language to explain how they completed a challenge, compare results, predict outcomes and reflect on what they might do differently next time. This strengthens both mathematical understanding and critical thinking skills.

At KinderGym, mathematics is not taught as a separate activity. It is embedded in every session through movement, exploration and play with purpose, helping children develop confidence and a love of learning while building strong foundations for future mathematical thinking.

Maths in KinderGym: Measuring – How big, heavy or long?

Children explore measurement concepts throughout KinderGym as they compare the size, height, length and distance of equipment and movements. They investigate questions such as "Who jumped further?", "Which beam is longer?" and "How many steps does it take to cross?", building an understanding of mathematical comparison through active learning.

Maths in KinderGym: Counting – How many?

Every KinderGym session provides opportunities for children to develop number awareness through purposeful play. Whether counting jumps, balancing steps, beanbags, hoops, or turns during activities, children naturally engage with numbers as they move, explore and participate in routines.

KinderGym experiences build children's understanding of position, direction and spatial awareness. As they move over, under, around and through equipment, children use mathematical language such as above, below, beside, next to and between while developing confidence, coordination and problem-solving skills.

💙 Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Today is a special day to celebrate the Dads, father figures, special people and important people in our children’s lives who help them feel loved, supported and encouraged. 👨‍👧‍👦💙

From helping with those first wobbly steps, joining in the KinderGym fun, encouraging a tricky new skill or simply sitting together for a cuddle and a chat, these moments all help children feel confident, connected and supported. 🌟

We also recognise that Father’s Day can bring different emotions and experiences for families. Whether your child is celebrating with their Dad, stepdad, grandfather, father figure, special person, or remembering someone who is no longer with them, we hope today provides an opportunity to celebrate the love, connection and special relationships that matter most. 💙

Six years ago, a young Jesse Moore shared his gymnastics dream with us 💙

His journey began at just three years old in KinderGym after showing off his impressive splits at home. At 16, Jesse had one goal, to become an Olympian.

In 2024, that dream became reality. Jesse made history at the Paris Olympic Games as the first South Australian men's artistic gymnast to compete at an Olympic Games.

Now, two years later, he's representing Australia at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow… and he's already claimed TWO bronze medals! 🥉🥉

Tonight, Jesse takes to the floor one final time in the Parallel Bars final to close out an incredible campaign.

From KinderGym to the world stage, Jesse continues to prove that big dreams really can become reality. We're so proud to be part of his journey and can't wait to cheer him on one more time.
