If you have a bunion, stop training your toes. A bunion doesn’t start at the toe. It starts when your foot’s three-dimensional arch collapses. As that arch loses its shape, the forefoot widens and the first metatarsal loses support. Your big toe then drifts inward, creating the bunion over time. Training the toe won’t rebuild the structure. Rebuild the arch, and you change the forces acting on the toe. That’s exactly what we teach in this reel. In many cases, your body has adopted this position as a compensation. When the body lacks stability or mobility elsewhere, it will often rotate the feet outward to create a wider, more stable base. Over time, that changes how force travels through your ankles, knees, hips and pelvis. The result is often poor movement efficiency, recurring pain, or joints that never seem to feel quite right. The goal isn’t to force your toes to point straight. The goal is to restore the structural conditions that make a neutral foot position possible again.
