Had 7th Degree Black Belt Sensei John come in tonight and took the class. What an honour to learn from him and see the difference between the schools. A wealth of knowledge and experience. Thank you Sensei 🙏

We’ve had a great week this week. Tony and Trent achieved their Shodan after a lot of work and training and Andrew achieved his blue belt. An awesome achievement in these trying times of lockdowns.

Before Isshin-ryū Karate

In late 1955, around September/October, Shimabuku Tatsuo (1908-1975) had a vision while listening to his radio in his home in Chan Village. He was dozing off and daydreaming when a goddess riding a dragon flew and circled him. The goddess was Ryūzu Kannon (龍頭観音), the Buddhist goddess of Mercy and compassion.

The Megami (女神 goddess told Shimabuku that he had enough knowledge and experience along with his own ideas of karate to create his own style of karate.
The Megami also told Shimabuku to first make a image of her that incorporated all of his thoughts about his new style.

Well today was an awesome day. Brock Seidel achieved his Shodan. A lot of people start martial arts with good intentions but very few stick it out to achieve a black belt. Congratulations Brock you did all the hard work and it payed off. Now we start working towards a 2nd Degree Black.
