Congratulations to our latest Member of the Month, Dean!
Dean's work often takes him away for weeks at a time, so the fact that he gets into the gym 3 - 4 times a week (before the kids are awake) when he's not away is a testament to his commitment.
Occupation: Strategy Director
Early riser or night owl: Night owl … which makes 6am classes a daily act of discipline ☹
Lifting, cardio or gymnastics: Lifting
Favourite movement to see in a workout: Bench Press and Clean & Jerk
Favourite song to train to: I’m not really a music person, just as long as it’s energetic and has a beat to get in-rhythm with
Achievement you're most proud of (inside the gym): Building up to 4 times a week and being able to attack the classes and not be so sore I can’t walk or bend over
Goal/s for the next 12 months: Keep consistent, make some decent gains in the main compound lifts of squat, presses and bench, and see if can finally get some shoulder and back strength to get competent at pull ups
Fun fact: my job has turned me into Mr Potato Head … I know more useless facts about Potato than anyone needs to ever know
When I'm not at Barbell house you can find me: at my kids sporting events or at the beach over summer
Keep up the awesome work Dean Crawford

Curious to know what goes on in one of our weightlifting classes at Barbell House?
Come in and use our 7 day free trial to see what its all about.
Led by (the very humble Commonwealth Games athlete) Coach Boris🐻❄️, each session starts with a general full body warm up.
Boris will check in with you during a more specific warm up for each lift, to see where you're at with your program and what you might need some guidance on.
This is always a good chance to ask questions or clarify anything you're not quite sure about (or even just discuss shoes 😆).
Then its time to lift! This is where the magic happens and all the gold stars 🌟 appear!
When we've finished lifting, there's the high fives all round and possibly a (non-obligatory) group selfie 🤳
So whether you're a complete beginner to weightlfiting, or if you're defending your national title, or somewhere in between, come in and have some fun with us.

Congratulations to our August Member of the Month, Eddie!
Eddie's willingness to recognise and act on changing up his training schedule to make it work for him has seen him consistently making 3 sessions a week for the last couple of months and the results are showing.
Well done Eddie Grant, keep up the good work!

Congratulations to our Member of the Month
Occupation: Lady of leisure at present
Early riser or night owl: bit of both I’d say
Lifting, cardio or gymnastics: def lifting , although I don’t mind getting out for a run
Favourite movement to see in a workout: that’s gotta be an overhead squat
Favourite song to train to: Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine
Achievement you're most proud of (inside the gym): staying dedicated to my fitness even during the busiest and most stressful periods of my life.
Goal/s for the next 12 months: getting upside down and tackling more of what I don’t like lol
Fun fact: Back in the day – competed in 2 body building competitions at 50 & 51years old
When I'm not at Barbell house you can find me: spending lots of time with my 2 sausage dogs Monty and Mia, going on long walks and lots of gardening and food prepping

A multiple-time national champion, Boris proudly represented Australia from 2005 to 2021. A defining moment of his career came when he represented Australia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in the men’s 85kg division. During the competition, he recorded lifts of 140kg in the sn**ch and 161kg in the clean & jerk, achieving a 301kg total
Boris is a silver medalist at the Oceania Weightlifting Championships, earning silver medals in the sn**ch, clean & jerk, and overall total in the 89kg category with a combined lift of 308kg.
Coming from a remarkable sporting lineage, Boris was inspired by both of his Olympian parents. His mother, Yelena Yelesina, won Olympic gold in the high jump at the 2000 Summer Olympics, while his father, Aghvan Grigoryan, represented Armenia in weightlifting at the 1996 Summer Olympics and served as the nation’s flag bearer.
Known for his discipline, resilience, and dedication to the sport, Boris has built a respected career in Australian weightlifting through years of elite performance, international representation, and commitment to excellence on and off the platform.
We can’t wait to have him on the team leading Barbell House Weightlifting Club.
