In case you missed our earlier post, our October school holidays program is here – and we are VERY excited about the lineup!

From Volleyball WA and Perth Scorchers to Creative Writing and Pool Comps, we’ve worked our magic alongside Gardiner Street Arts Collective & Avon Community Services to bring a variety of programs and activities to Moora this term break.

Please note: all parents or caregivers of children attending any of our events will be required to fill out a consent form below. This can also be filled out on the day at the event, but you can save time by clicking the link below:

Save the date: Big Carnabys Sculpture Unveiling Day 🦜

Sunday 11 October | Apex Park, Moora | 10am-3pm

Seven years in the making, it's nearly here!

The Kerkhoff Carnaby Group is inviting everyone to a family fun day to celebrate the unveiling of the Big Carnabys sculpture in Apex Park.

On the day:

🛍️ Lions Market with heaps of stalls
🦅 Wildlife displays from Carnaby's Crusaders, WA Birds of Prey Centre, Critters Up Close, Bluebush Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc., Eco Gecko – Environment & Design, Eco Action and Moore Catchment Council
🪵 Carnaby's breeding logs handcrafted by Wally Kerkhoff
🎶 Food stalls, live music and dancers
🎉 The official opening with special guests

This one belongs to the community. It's taken seven years of work by a dedicated group of volunteers to get here, and Moora will have something super special to show for it.

Moora Toyota Moora Cup 🏇
Saturday 3rd October 2026

Grab the family and come down to the Moora Races for a fabulous day out.

Gates open at 12:30pm, $20 plus service fee.

There'll be TAB and bookies on course, Fashions on the Field for men and women, and food and drinks available all day. Stick around after the last race for a DJ and good old boogie.

Community Citizen of the Year Awards: Nominations Open!

If you know someone doing great things in our community, who makes it a better place to live, nominate them for a 2027 Community Citizen of the year award.

We've been having some incredible turnouts for our events here in the Shire of Moora lately!

From Piyalbajarri at the Gardiner Street Arts Collective, to Kokomo hosting Morning Melodies at the Moora Performing Arts Centre. It's so heartwarming to see our community come together to listen to stories from others, share their own - and enjoy the occasional toe tap and shimmy shimmy over some morning tea.

⚡Planned Power Outage – Tuesday 6 October

Western Power will be carrying out essential maintenance works, which will require a planned power outage in the following locations:

• Centenary Park
• Federation Park
• Lot 75 Melbourne Street – Sewer Operations
• Burns Place – Drainage Operations

🗓 Tuesday 6 October 2026
🕗 8am – 3:00pm

The outage is required to allow crews to safely complete maintenance works aimed at improving network reliability in the area.

Please note that power may take some time to be switched off and restored across all properties.
