After missing last season with knee soreness, former 7-year captain and Life Member Jack Newman has re-signed for another season!

In his time at MVCC, Jook has won the Club Champion, MVP, 1st XI Batting Award, 1st XI Bowling Award and 3x Fielding Awards. Not bad for a bloke who may or may not have had a hand in the voting.

Welcome back, Jook!

Moonee Valley is proud to announce that Brayden McGregor has recommitted as captain of the 1st XI for the 2026/27 season.

Entering his fifth season at the club, Brayden has amassed nearly 1,500 runs and has been a consistently reliable contributor in the field and with the ball. Having also coached MVCC last season, and with two batting awards and a bowling award to his name, Brayden continues to bring professionalism, leadership and structure to the group.

We are thrilled to have Brayden leading the 1st XI again and look forward to having him guide the team to greater success this season.

Moonee Valley is excited to announce our committee for the upcoming 2026/27 season, featuring new appointments alongside plenty of familiar faces.

We are delighted to announce Mark Gauci as our new President. Having played a record 440 games for Moonee Valley, Mark brings vast playing experience and an invaluable connection with the MVCC community, making for what is sure to be a successful and exciting appointment.

Mark is supported by our youngest Life Member, Jack Newman, in his new role as Vice-President. Coming back from an injury-disturbed season, we’re excited to have Jack translate his seven years as 1st XI captain to vice-presidency leadership and experience.

Coming off 18 years as Club President, Charlie will take on the role of Secretary, with Allan Cu***ng appointed Vice-Secretary. In just his second year on the committee, Tom Janetzki becomes our new Treasurer.

Paul Sevenson has recommitted as Junior Coordinator, while Dom Gibaldi will continue as Sponsorship Manager.

We are also pleased to welcome Tom Morrissy as a new committee member, and welcome Bede Gannon and Pete Golding back to the committee.

Continuing on the committee are Sarah Fenn, who moves across from her role as Secretary, alongside Dejan Gilevski, Andreas Skiotis, Brendan “Jonty” Rhodes and Paul Simon.

Congratulations to everyone appointed, as we look forward to an exciting year and promising future for Moonee Valley.

Moonee Valley Cricket Club proudly recognises Charlie Walker for an outstanding 18-year tenure as Club President.

After seven years as Junior Coordinator, Charlie lead Moonee Valley across nearly two decades through remarkable selflessness, kindness and dedication to the community he loves dearly.

Charlie provided Moonee Valley with stability and leadership that allowed our club to grow remarkably, with Moonee Valley fielding the most number of teams of any Victorian club at the end of the 2008/09 season.

His presidency has influenced generations of junior and senior players, our women’s team, coaches, volunteers and families at Moonee Valley. Beyond his role, Charlie demonstrated the pinnacle of clubmanship, always willing to be of service no matter the job at hand.

While Charlie’s time as presidency comes to an end, we are delighted to announce that he will continue his service for the club as Secretary for the upcoming season.

On behalf of everyone at Moonee Valley, we thank you Charlie for your exceptional service and love for us all, and your legacy as a true legend will always be remembered at Ormond Park for years to come.

It is with great sadness we advise Moonee Valley Cricket Club Life Member and inaugural Hall of Fame inductee Kevin Gardiner has passed away, age 66.

Kevin’s cricket career at Moonee Valley began when he followed his older brother Peter down to Moonee Valley - the late PG is also a Life Member of our club.

Kevin was one of our four inaugural inductees to the Moonee Valley Hall of Fame along with Darren Nagle, Ian Denny and Mark Gauci, and revelled in the function where they were presented with their plaques at a gala event in the Ormond Park pavilion on February 7 this year. A two-time Premiership player, Kevin was also presented our Lindsay Jones Best Clubman award in 2006/07.

He won seven bowling awards in his 233-game career spanning 1975 to 2025, scoring 1190 runs and taking 269 wickets.

But Kevin’s profound contribution to the Moonee Valley Cricket Club over six decades goes well past his onfield exploits.

Juniors were Kevin’s passion and he served seven years as our Junior Co-ordinator and another six years on the general committee, finishing up in 2018/19. He then coached our Under 10s for multiple seasons and had further junior involvement running our Milo Have A Go/Blast programs.

He was willing to take on any task that needed doing, and in more recent years took on the role of ordering, collecting and distributing the match balls for every senior and junior team.

Kevin was universally admired and respected by players of all grades at our club, as well as juniors and their parents for his genuine interest and involvement in everyone and everything. He always had a good word for anyone who pulled on a Moonee Valley cap and enjoyed mixing socially with them.

Kevin, you have made a profound impact on the Moonee Valley Cricket Club, and we mourn your passing. Details of funeral arrangements will be posted when finalised.
