Your dive computer knows more about your dive than you think. ⌚️

While you’re busy looking at the reef, exploring a wreck or watching that shark swim past, your dive computer is quietly tracking your dive.

Your depth.
Your dive time.
Your no-decompression limit.
Your ascent rate.
Your surface interval.
Your previous dives.

And that information isn’t just useful underwater.

Imagine a diver becomes unwell after surfacing and requires medical assistance. Being able to access their actual dive profile how deep they went, for how long, their ascent and their recent dive history can provide valuable information to the professionals assessing them.

It’s also why “my buddy has a computer” isn’t the same as having your own.

Even on the same dive, two divers can have slightly different profiles. You might spend longer at depth, ascend differently or have completely different residual nitrogen from previous dives.

Your computer follows you. Your dive. Your profile.

But owning one is only part of it. Learn what it’s telling you. Understand your NDL. Recognise your ascent-rate warnings. Know how to access your dive history.

The best thing about diving the ex-HMAS Brisbane?

You already know there’s a 130+ metre shipwreck waiting for you beneath the surface… but you never really know what will be waiting around it.

That’s the magic.

Over the years, the wreck has become far more than steel resting on the seafloor. It has transformed into a thriving artificial reef — providing shelter, structure and habitat for an incredible variety of marine life.

One dive might mean swimming through clouds of baitfish. Another, sharing the wreck with turtles, rays, giant Queensland groupers, octopus… or something completely unexpected passing through.

The shipwreck is the reason you descend.

Calling all reef & macro lovers… this Saturday is for you. 🪸🔍

Look closely at this photo. 👀 You might be surprised how easy it is to swim straight past one of the reef’s best camouflage artists the wobbegong shark.

Wobbegongs are bottom-dwelling sharks famous for their flattened bodies, intricate patterns and the little skin flaps around their mouths that help them blend beautifully into the reef.

Rather than constantly cruising like many sharks, they often spend their time resting on the bottom, relying on camouflage while waiting for an opportunity to ambush prey.

Which is exactly why Mooloolaba Reef rewards the divers who slow down and really look. 🔍

Tiny critters, hidden sharks, colourful reef life… sometimes the best encounters are right under your nose.
