Your previous Traffic Management training may no longer be valid for undertaking Traffic Controller (TC) or Traffic Management Implementer (TMI) work on Category 1 roads in Victoria. Under Victoria's transition to the Austroads Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) National Training Framework, workers need to transition to the relevant new TTM training to continue undertaking these roles.

A fantastic achievement for Simpson Construction Company for Loch Ard Gorge Blowhole Lookout - Poombeeyt Koontapool, a project recognised as Highly Commended in the $5 million – 10 million Category at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

Parks Victoria engaged Simpson Construction to design and construct the Poombeeyt Koontapool Lookout, a world-class curved viewing structure in the highly protected Port Campbell Marine National Park. Suspended above an active limestone cave system, the striking fibre-reinforced polymer canopy platform provides breathtaking views of the iconic Loch Ard Gorge Blowhole. Developed in close collaboration with the Eastern Maar people, the design reflects the cultural story of Koontapool, the Southern Right Whale. Delivered with stringent environmental controls, the lookout demonstrates technical excellence, cultural respect and environmental stewardship, creating a lasting landmark for visitors to one of Victoria’s most remarkable natural places.

Congratulations to Simpson Construction Co. for the St Kilda Pier Redevelopment, winning project of the $30M - $75M at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

Parks Victoria engaged Simpson Construction Company to deliver the landmark St Kilda Pier Redevelopment, a complex marine infrastructure project in one of Melbourne's most iconic and publicly visible locations. The works required construction of a new 680-metre pier, penguin viewing areas, public amenities, architectural finishes, and demolition of the existing structure while maintaining marina access.
Delivered beside heritage-listed Kirby's Kiosk, an active marina, sensitive marine ecology and the St Kilda little penguin habitat, the project demanded exceptional planning, innovation and stakeholder coordination. Simpson Construction successfully delivered a world-class public asset ahead of schedule, safely, sustainably and to an outstanding architectural standard.

Congratulations to Fulton Hogan for the Calder Park Drive Level Crossing Removal Project, winners of the $75M–$150M category at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

Fulton Hogan, in partnership with the Victoria Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA Rail) and Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), successfully delivered the Calder Park Drive Level Crossing Removal Project through a highly collaborative and solutions-focused approach. The project scope included a new road bridge, associated rail and road works, drainage, retaining walls and urban design outcomes to improve safety and connectivity. Key challenges included protected flora and fauna, complex interfaces, and site constraints that were overcome through innovative design, staged delivery, and close stakeholder coordination. Overall, the project achieved outstanding quality outcomes, a strong safety focus and careful environmental stewardship.

Congratulations to Jaydo Construction and Yarra Valley Water for Upper Yarra STP Habitat Restoration, the winning project of the $2M–$5M category at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

Yarra Valley Water engaged Jaydo Construction to construct six wetlands and two fire access tracks at the Upper Yarra Treatment Plant as part of a habitat restoration project. The works involved significant acid sulphate soil management, requiring an innovative, first-of-its-kind approach to wetland construction. Jaydo adapted agricultural techniques for use on site, utilising tractors, super spreaders and rotary hoes to efficiently treat and manage soils across large areas. Despite challenging weather conditions and rigorous testing requirements, the project was delivered on time, creating a sustainable habitat for the critically endangered Leadbeater's possum and Helmeted honeyeater.

Congratulations to ABKJV for Mulgra Street, Frankston South - Emergency Works, the winning project of the Up to $2M category at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

South East Water engaged Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure, BMD Group, KBR Inc. (ABK) to deliver the Mulgra Street Sewer Protection Works, an emergency D&C project triggered by rapid creek erosion exposing a live and critical sewer. Delivering within a constrained residential creek environment, and environmentally sensitive setting, the team developed a bespoke solution with concurrent design, approvals and construction to protect the asset. Works included creek stabilisation, deep excavation, subgrade improvement, sewer encasement, erosion protection and environmental rehabilitation. Despite late award and additional scope, the project was completed on time, within budget, with zero incidents, no service disruption and a 50-year-old solution protecting critical infrastructure.

Congratulations to Eifers Civil Pty Ltd for EBTA – P387 Supply Lightweight Fill, winning project of the $5M–$10M category at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

Civil construction has long relied on the same playbook for backfilling beneath roads, bridges, and infrastructure - excavators, loaders, tip trucks, and compaction crews working for days on end. Eifers is rethinking it. Their solution is Ecofil, a lightweight cellular concrete pumped into place in a single continuous flow, replacing fleets of plant and truck movements with a small, coordinated setup. On the Eastern Freeway upgrades, a major service trench needed backfilling inside a five-day closure. Eifers completed 600 cubic metres in a single shift - a fraction of the carbon footprint.

Congratulations BMD and Melbourne Water for Western Treatment Plant 5W NRP, winning project of the Greater than $150 million category at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

Delivered by BMD for Melbourne Water, the $350 million 5 West Nutrient Removal Plant replaced ageing infrastructure with a new 150 megalitre-per-day facility capable of treating approximately 15% of Melbourne’s wastewater. The project delivered one of the world’s first full-scale Shortcut Nitrogen Removal facilities, reducing energy demand by 30% and carbon requirements by 40% compared to conventional treatment. Innovations included circular bioreactor-clarifier tank design, biogas-powered dewatering systems and large-scale individual joint pipeline testing. The project delivered lasting community benefits through the employment of 92 First Nations team members, engagement with 16 Indigenous businesses and more than 79,000 social enterprise hours.

Congratulations to Zinfra, JAYDO & WSP JV and South East Water, winners of the Project Value $10M - $30M category for Albert Park Branch Sewer at the 2026 CCF Victoria Earth Awards!

South East Water engaged Zinfra, Jaydo Construction and WSP to design and construct almost 2km of glass-reinforced plastic sewer pipeline across metropolitan Melbourne, duplicating a 130-year-old sewer while minimising impacts to the community. The project required complex stakeholder management, detailed planning and staged delivery to manage approvals, maintain access and limit disruptions. Innovative construction methods, including microtunnelling, blind boring, sheet pile shafts and ground improvement works, enabled progress through challenging ground conditions and around major events such as the Melbourne Marathon and the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix with zero impacts.
