Swan Watch | The Cycle of Life 🦢
It’s been a rough few days for our family of swans. We didn’t believe it when we only saw 3 cygnets on Thursday morning. We kept checking, but it became clear — we had lost one.
After the excitement of having 4 cygnets living for so long, it was hard to admit and share with everyone, especially as our community has become so invested in their journey.
It’s even tougher to share that today, we are down to 2 babies. We know this is the circle of life, but it doesn’t mean we have to like it. 💔
The 18th lake is a dangerous place for cygnets, with predators lurking both above and below the water.
On a positive note, the swans have moved back to the 3rd pond, seeking the protection of the shallower water. 🥳
The 2 cygnets are getting bigger each day, and the parents are still in high-alert protection mode. Take a look at the second video to see how they react when a duck comes too close!

Congratulations Grace Kim and Fran Suttling who have won the title of Fourball Knockout Champions this week.
Runners up, Marg Stack and Selina Pyle played a great round, but the winners were just too good, winning the event 2-up.
Thanks to the ladies who stayed back for a celebratory sparkling and presentation in our new pergola area.

Bruce Edwards won day 2 of The South Coast Senior Classic at The Links Shell Cove on Monday.
Bruce produced an incredible bogey free, 7 under Par, 63, winning the day by 5 strokes.
The South Coast Senior Classic is an Australian ranking event, in which Bruce finished an impressive 3rd overall across the two days.
A fantastic performance from Bruce!

We are extremely happy to report on this episode of Swan Watch, we still have 4 cygnets!
They have moved from the lake to the smaller pond on the 3rd, and look much happier now they don’t have eels trying to attack them.
HOWEVER - This area is much easier for dogs to access, so please place your dogs on a leash when on the golf course!

Don’t panic - we haven’t had another plane land on our course.
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of a very unexpected crash landing on the 15th fairway.
Year 1 Update - Plane no longer flies, pilot and student are healed from minor injuries and 15th Fairway is back to normal.
What a memorable moment in our MVGC history.
