James Thomas is Superintendent of Bayview Golf Club on Sydney's Northern Beaches. He's also a local boy, growing up in this area, playing golf, and building a career in greenkeeping from starting at a young age.

Join James and I on this wonderful conversation as we learn exactly how he climbed his way through the ranks in his career to becoming superintendent at Bayview GC and some of the challenges he's had to work through almost from the moment he became the Super.

3rd Green Update ⛳

Additional drainage has now been installed around the 3rd green.

The area was excavated to approximately 400mm with the clay under base removed.

The new drainage connects to the existing system, with excess water draining to the dam.

The new work ensures the area is now far drier and more playable.

🧠✨ What a fantastic first Trivia Night at Bayview!

With 83 members and guests joining us, the room was full of laughter, friendly competition and plenty of great teamwork. Congratulations to all of our winners and a huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a success.

Master Pennant Team Through to the Semi-Finals! 🏌️

Congratulations to our Master Pennant Team on securing their place in the semi-finals. Our team of Matt Byrne, Anthony Carter, Paul Clarke, Shaun Colley, Steve Green, Rus Loewenthal, Mick Perry, Chris Stephandellis and Andrew Wood finished the season on top of their section recording 3 wins, 2 halves and 1 loss across the home and away season.

Needing a half or win in the last home and away round at Lynwood last Sunday the team dug deep to secure the half required to move through to the semi-finals. This was a fantastic team performance against a strong Lynwood team that required a win to progress to the semi-finals.

This achievement is a testament to the team's skill, determination, and commitment throughout the season. Their hard work and outstanding performances have earned them the opportunity to compete for a place in the final. 👏

The semi final will be played at Oatlands Golf Club on Sunday 5 July with an 11.00am tee time. We would love to see as many of you as possible at Oatlands to cheer the team on.

We wish the entire team the very best in the upcoming semi-final.

⛳ Protecting high-traffic areas on the course.

Bayview Golf Club in Mona Vale, NSW installed Geohex near the 3rd tee to help reduce wear and tear caused by golf carts and foot traffic at the end of the concrete pathway.

Installed by the club's greenkeeping team, the Geohex system provides a stable, permeable surface that helps support ongoing use while maintaining the appearance of the course.
