Representing the proud Scottish pool community, Scotland will once again take its place on the international Blackball stage.

𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 – 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐀 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐖

We are delighted to announce Laura Shaw as captain of the Rest of the World Ladies for the inaugural IBF TAOM World Series, taking place in Cape Town from 23 October to 1 November 2026.

Laura Shaw began playing 8-ball at the age of 16 in England, representing Cumbria at county level, before moving to Australia at 29. Since then, she has built an impressive Blackball career both nationally and internationally.

Her achievements include captaining the winning Ladies team at the 2022 Australian National Blackball Teams event, becoming the 2023 State Blackball Champion and winning the Australian Blackball Ladies Singles title in 2025. Laura has also captained her state team at multiple National Championships and represented Australia at major international events in France, Malta, Gibraltar and Bridlington. She will once again represent Australia at the 2026 World Championships in South Africa.

Laura brings experience, leadership and a strong belief in teamwork, unity, respect and sportsmanship to the Rest of the World Ladies.

Laura said:

“I am incredibly proud and honoured to have been appointed captain of the Rest of the World Blackball Team. To represent and lead a group of talented players from different countries is both exciting and inspiring.

I look forward to working alongside a fantastic group of players, supporting each other and proudly representing the Rest of the World. Together, we will compete with passion, professionalism and pride.”

The IBF World Series continues to make history, and today we are proud to announce the Team Captain for the Rest of the World Mens team.

Please join us in congratulating Justin Allen, who will lead the Rest of the World Team during the inaugural IBF World Series, taking place at the 2026 IBF World Championships in Cape Town, South Africa.

Although Justin Allen only discovered Blackball in 2017, he has quickly established himself as one of Australia's leading players. He has represented Australia at three Nations Cups and three World Championships in the Seniors category, while collecting multiple Australian Singles, Doubles and Team National Titles in both the Seniors and Masters divisions.

Justin also helped Australia achieve its best-ever international performances, leading the Australian Seniors A team to silver at the 2019 Nations Cup in Cyprus and bronze at the 2026 Nations Cup in Gibraltar, finishing second in the individual player rankings on both occasions. He was also part of Australia's 2024 World Eight Ball Masters Team Championship victory.

𝐎𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧, 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝:

"What an incredible honour to be asked to captain the Rest of the World Mens team in the inaugural IBF World Series.

I can't wait to join forces with players from different countries and categories in this unique event. I've been fortunate to meet so many players from around the world over the years, and now we have the opportunity to play together instead of against each other.

Selecting just nine players from the incredible talent on display at these World Championships will be one of the toughest decisions I'll ever have to make.

For Australian players, travelling halfway around the world to compete is always a huge commitment. But the friendships, the competition, the organisation and the incredible international Blackball community make every trip worthwhile.

Team pool is something special. I love bringing people together to achieve a common goal, and I can't wait to build a team made up of different players, personalities and nationalities to proudly represent the Rest of the World in Cape Town. It really doesn't get any better than that!"
