KIWI RETURNS TO FLY ON TFH PWR SPRINTCAR POWER TOUR

He made one heck of an impression last summer and in the process it significantly boosted the profile and credibility of New Zealand Sprintcar racing in Australia.
Kiwi Max Guilford was a human highlight reel in his all white Doric / Tony Elliott Foundation / Lucas Oils NZ1 running throughout the elite competition up and down central and east coast of Australia.
Guilford was always one to watch.
Despite no experience at any of the places he raced he showed speed and entertainment value whenever the NZ1 rolled through the pit gate.
The great news is he’s coming back and he’s determined to get some main event success and push for series glory in 2026/2027.
Max had to relinquish his NZ title defence last season in favour of racing in Australia so the familiar NZ1 won’t be his number come TFH PWR Sprintcar Power Tour kick off time on January 3 at Western Sydney Speedway.
That doesn’t mean he won’t be chasing the #1 in Power Tour terms however.
Guilford finished fourth in Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek in 2025/2026 and finished fifth in the TFH PWR Sprintcar Power Tour – both series on debut and both at venues he was debuting at.
A top five result in both series was a standout effort even though the ultra-competitive Guilford naturally wanted more from himself.
“Having Max on the series last year really fired up the Kiwi versus Australia and USA rivalry in and he attracted a lot of Aussie fans because he put on a show every place he raced,” says series spokesperson Wade Aunger, “his car always looked a million bucks and he always up on the highline with the wing dragged back. Max always brought entertainment factor to his racing and we’re excited to have him back. Now he has experience at all these tracks he’ll be a serious threat to the winner’s list.”
Guilford will certainly look to pre-Christmas and Speedweek Series events in the Australian schedule as he builds towards his top five result in PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour.
It’s hoped that a few new faces from the land of the long white cloud may even show up to contest the Power Tour as well after Guilford’s stunning debut showing.
This Kiwi really knows how to power up!

DYLAN’S DETERMINATION TO REACH THE TOP

Queensland livewire Dylan Menz learned a lot from his huge season in Australian Sprintcar racing in 2025/2026 and the great news he’s got even bigger plans for the summer of 2026/2027.
Menz will focus solely on his Sprintcar program (he had two mega Speedcars also in the race shop) and will surely use the experience he gained last season to elevate the Q46 to a different level on TFH PWR Sprintcar Power Tour.
There were certainly some encouraging signs last summer for the quietly spoken father of two and although he always wants better there were some very encouraging signs including an A-Main win in the final USC QLD round.
“We finished fourth in Chariots of Thunder, set Quick Time Qualifying at Tolmer Speedway for Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek, had a blast mixing it with James McFadden at NAPA Speedway in the City, finished fourth in Tolmer after leading the Speedweek round. Finished fourth at the Power Tour round at Toowoomba behind the big boys. Ran from twenty first to seventh at Tolmer for the Power Tour. Finished fourth at Red Hot Night One at Toowoomba then DNF’d while running fifth on Night Two. We ran fourth in the 360 title, ran third place at USC pink night with McHugh and Newton in front and then grabbed the win in the last round of USC at Toowoomba. It was busy.”
Menz finished thirteenth on Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek and finished seventh on the PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour despite a DSQ in Round One at Western Sydney Speedway.
His results overall in those two tournaments are not an accurate representation of his potential or his speed.
From thirty eight races he had one win, four podiums, eleven top fives, twenty one top tens and seven DNF’s.
Plus that Quick Time in Tolmer.
Dylan will pilot the immaculate Menz Trading and Hire Q46 entry on over forty occasions including Speedweek and Sprintcar Power Tour in what will undoubtedly be his biggest and best assault on the sport yet.

POWER TOUR ANNOUNCES $336,000 TOTAL BOUNTY!

Across the six venues hosting seven nights of the 2027 PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour a spectacular $336,000 prizemoney and points fund haul is on offer for teams competing in the January 3-17 extravaganza.

“This is a substantial payout for teams racing in what is effectively a two week period,” says Sprintcar Power Tour’s Wade Aunger, “with the incredible support of collaborating with the Red Hot Shootout at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway and the International Cup at Premier Speedway with over $140,000 collectively in those two events, plus the rounds at Western Sydney Speedway, Kingaroy Speedway, B&S Earthworks Timmis Speedway and Tolmer Speedway Bordertown there is basically a third of a million dollars that teams can race for.”

When you factor in the Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek Series between December 26 until January 1 with a total payout of $259,000 including a $40,000 points fund that’s a staggering $595,000 collectively in twenty-two days with Sprintcar Power Tour.

There’s no doubt the incentives are significant for teams wishing to race both Sprintcar Speedweek and Sprintcar Power Tour plus you can then factor the President’s Cup at Avalon, the Kings Challenge at Borderline and the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Warrnambool and you’re talking about a figure that’s getting nearer to three quarters of a million dollars.

“We’ve already had substantial interest in running both Sprintcar Speedweek and PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour from both Australian and international teams,” Aunger says, “I feel like with the collective bounties on offer and the major paydays in Toowoomba ($20,000 to win) and Premier ($20,000 to win) there’s a lot of appeal in running at as many of those twelve rounds across the twenty two days. I hope we’ll really build on the success of our initial Sprintcar Power Tour by working hard on the appeal of running with us and Sprintcar Speedweek beforehand.”

POWER TOUR POWERS UP TOLMER SPEEDWAY FOR SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!

Every single time a Sprintcar touches the clay at the phenomenal Tolmer Speedway Bordertown something magical and truly powerful happens.

This powerhouse example of ‘from little things spectacular things grow’ in the tiny but passionate town of Bordertown South Australia will once again host the PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour.

Saturday night, January 16 the Power Tour will power up at Tolmer for the fifth round of the second annual running of Australia’s newest Sprintcar series featuring some of the cream of Australian, USA and indeed NZ competition.

Last year the series came down to the final weekend at Tolmer’s “Double Down” with Gold Coaster Lockie McHugh picking up the A-Main win for a cool $10,000 and in the process scooping the $7,000 series champion points fund cheque as well.

The penultimate round of the Power Tour is once again expected to attract a stellar line-up of East Coast teams in addition to many West Australian teams both with West Aussie drivers and USA heroes saddled up on their way to “Classic Week” the week after.

The South Aussie “pleasure dome” Tolmer is coming up on its third season and in that short time it’s already played host to two Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek rounds and shortly its second Power Tour round showcasing elite competition every time the things with wings roll off the adjacent Dukes Highway.

With its enormous wide straights and corners and its unprecedented high banks Tolmer Speedway has quickly become one of the real fan favourites both live at the circuit in Australia and across the world in the USA and NZ through the clayperview.com broadcasts.

With more improvements planned in the off-season and the commitment to the grandstand seating once more the Club and committee of Tolmer Speedway are excited about yet another schedule including no less than three blue-ribbon events from November until mid-January.

“There is something truly magical about Tolmer,” says Power Tour organiser Wade Aunger, “from the minute you roll into Bordertown you marvel at the sheer magnitude of the facility that the Tolmer Club have built in such a small but mighty community.

There has never not been a race there – either Speedweek or Power Tour where fans have come away with their jaws on the ground. The timing of the Saturday night (single night show) January 16 once again means many teams will travel down from Queensland and New South Wales, across from Western Australia and up from Victoria on their way to SA and on to Classic week. It’s a night nobody should miss.”

Tolmer Speedway will host the fifth round of the 2027 PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour on Saturday night, January 16.
