Most people admire the Fight Team. A few decide to become it.

Every great achievement starts with a decision.

A decision to show up when it’s hard.
To stay consistent when motivation fades.
To keep improving long before anyone notices.

Our Official Fight Team isn’t just for the most talented. It’s for those who commit to something bigger than themselves. A team built on discipline, accountability, and earning every opportunity.

These tryouts weren’t the finish line—they were another step in proving they deserve to wear the Urban Fight Team Uniform.

If standing alongside this team is your goal one day, your journey starts now. Every class. Every round. Every session is a chance to move one step closer.

Don’t just train. Train with purpose.

Because the biggest goals aren’t given. They’re earned. 🥊🔥

Most people focus on the punch itself… but the real difference is where it starts.

Bringing your hands back to your chin after every strike isn’t just about defence. It’s what sets up your next punch to be faster, straighter, and more powerful.

When your hands drift away from your face, you lose speed, waste movement, and leave yourself open to counters.

At Urban Muaythai, we build strong habits from day one because the fundamentals are what separate good fighters from great ones.

Master the basics. The power will follow. 👊

Earned. Never Given. 🥊 Meet the first official Urban Muaythai Fight Team.

Today, these athletes earned their place on the very first official Urban Muaythai Fight Team.

Nothing was handed to them.

Over two demanding hours of Fight Team Tryouts, they were tested on their skills, determination, fitness, composure, and willingness to push through when it got tough.

At Urban Muaythai, the Fight Team isn’t a class. It’s a commitment.

A commitment to showing up consistently. To being coachable. To representing the gym with humility, discipline, and respect. To putting the team before yourself and chasing excellence every single day.

Today they earned their spot.

Tomorrow, the real work begins.

Congratulations to every athlete who stepped up and gave it everything. Whether you made the team or not, you now know the standard. Keep working, keep improving, and earn your opportunity.

Earned. Never given.
One Team. One Fight.

Want to land more knees? Master this first. 👊

One of the keys to an effective clinch is learning how to create space.

When you can open up your opponent’s posture while maintaining control, you create the perfect opportunity to drive a clean knee into the body before they have time to defend.

Coach Mitch breaks down this simple but highly effective clinch concept that will instantly improve your knee game.

Train the details. The results will follow. 🥊

🔥 The clinch isn’t about strength. It’s about control.

The goal of the clinch is to secure two hands behind your opponent’s head, giving you the control to pull them off balance and create powerful knee strikes to the body or, where rules allow, to the head.

But getting there isn’t as simple as grabbing the neck.

Your stance, posture, footwork, and arm control are what create the space and angles needed to establish dominant control. Master those fundamentals first, and the knees will follow.

At Urban Muaythai, we break the clinch down step by step so you learn the technique—not just the movement.

🥊 Control first. Power second.

One week. 688 push-ups worth of impact. One community making a difference. 💙

This week, our Urban Muaythai family proved that training can be about so much more than fitness.

We got behind our member Courtney as she took on the Push-Up Challenge for men’s mental health. For every push-up completed across 10 classes, Urban Muaythai donated $1.

The result?

💙 $688 raised for Lifeline.

A special shoutout to Daniel Sellers, who led the charge with an incredible 111 push-ups in one session. An awesome effort.

But this wasn’t about who did the most.

It was about every person who dropped down and did one more push-up. Every person who stood beside a teammate. Every person who helped start a conversation that could one day save a life.

Mental health doesn’t discriminate, and neither should support.

If this week reminded us of anything, it’s that a strong community isn’t just built through training together—it’s built by showing up for each other when it matters most.

To Courtney, thank you for inspiring us all. And to every member who got involved, thank you for proving that when our community comes together, we can create real impact.

Together, we raised $688. Together, we raised awareness. Together, we started conversations that matter. 💙

Muaythai Technique: The Teep 👊

At Urban Muaythai, we distinguish between the Teep and the Push Kick.

✅ Teep = Front leg
✅ Push Kick = Back leg

While both techniques create distance and control, they have different purposes.

The Teep is generally used as a defensive weapon—stopping your opponent’s forward movement, disrupting their balance, and controlling range before they can attack.

The Push Kick, thrown from the back leg, is typically used as a more powerful attacking technique to drive your opponent back or create openings.

When throwing the Teep, strike with the ball of your foot using a sharp, stabbing motion—think of a snake’s bite or lunge. It’s not a push from the start; it’s a quick, direct strike that snaps into the target before retracting.

Master the Teep, and you’ll control the distance, the pace, and often the fight. 🥊
