Budo Melbourne - Jukuren Dojo

It's official!

After nearly 4 years, our time at the Melbourne Budo Academy has come to an end... which means that we now have a new home!

I would like to thank Pure Aikido for offering us a wonderful place to train and study, with a fully matted ground floor location, and plenty of high ceilings!!!

Our first official class will be this coming Tuesday, starting at the new time of 7:30pm, with our first Muso Shinden Ryu Iai Battojutsu study session being held this Sunday at 10:30am!

This marks the next step on the journey of the Jukuren Dojo, and I am looking forward to a great time at the new dojo!

2026 classes start next week. Term 1 will involve a study of Shinden Fudo Ryu, Sword, and Hanbo!

A heartfelt congratulations to Manaka-s on his retirement and achievements in the creation and development of the Jinenkan, as well as to Mario Del Mol-s on his promotion and taking over of the Jinenkan! I wish you all the best for the future of the organisation!

Term 3 Introductory Course Starting Soon!

Our Term Three Introductory Course is going to begin in two weeks time on Tuesday, September 2nd! These courses are held every four months, and cover the key fundamentals of our Japanese Jujutsu classes, including:
- Safe Rolling and Breakfalling
- Essential Striking and Blocking Techniques
- Postures and Solo Conditioning Exercises
- Core Grappling Concepts
- Basic Weapon Handling Skills
- and more!

The course runs for 8 weeks, in the Tuesday Fundamentals Class, and includes a free uniform, yearly membership, and two months of classes, all for less than half of the regular cost!

This Term also marks the beginning of our more streamlined, and faster skill development designed class structure... making it the best time to start your journey towards your martial art goals!

New Timetable! Introductory Course Starting Soon!!!

Beginning from September, our classes at the Jukuren Dojo will be going through an evolution... one that is designed to help you develop skill, and manage your time better!

We will be switching to a 1 and a half hour format for all classes, starting at 8:45pm for the Tuesday (Fundamental Jujutsu) and Thursday (Classical Jujutsu), and starting at 10:30am for Muso Shinden Ryu Iaijutsu on Sunday mornings!

At the same time, we will be redesigning our Fundamental Classes (Tuesday Nights) just in time for our next Introductory Course (beginning September 2nd!), with a greater focus on strengthening the essential techniques and skills for the first two months of each term, and a deeper exploration of the applications in the second half of each term.

We will also move our Goshinjutsu (Modern Self Defence) to a dedicated class on the last Tuesday of each month, giving more consistency in your training in this vital area for the modern world!

To make the classes more accessible to more people, we will be adjusting the run-time of some classes from September, making them more practical for new and continuing students to attend, without any compromise in training opportunities or coverage!

The second half of our Term Two curriculum is focused on Koto Ryu and Kijin Chosui Ryu Kukishinden Rokushakubojutsu!

Starting this week, we will be exploring the Shoden, Chuden, and Okuden sets of Bojutsu, as well as the Okuden and Hekito sets of kata from Koto Ryu.
