5:03 PM SATURDAY - The latest radar scan from the Bureau shows the cold front moving into central areas of Victoria from the west. Some lightning activity is also occurring within the band of rain. Gusty winds are also possible with the cold front as it moves through.

Look after timber handles with regular oiling (50% mineral turpentine and 50% raw linseed oil is best). Clean blades carefully and sharpen where necessary, and sand down rough splinters on wooden handles.

To keep blades and the edges of spades and shovels sharp, use a bench grinder or a sharpening stone.

Sq**rt some oil on saw blades and anything else that might rust, then rub the oil in with an old cloth.

Keeping blades sharp will reduce user effort and damage to plant tissue.

Most importantly - don't leave them out in the rain! 🌧

MS Readathon - FREE Welcome Pack MS Readathon | August

The Shire has undertaken a precautionary review of all Shire-managed sporting reserves with synthetic cricket wicket covers following the tragic death of a player at Lalor Recreation Reserve in the City of Whittlesea.

The review was carried out ahead of this weekend’s winter sport to ensure sporting fields continue to provide a safe environment for players, officials and our community.

Senior grounds in use this weekend will be completed before the weekend.

The Shire’s thoughts remain with the family, friends and the football community affected by the tragic incident.

The safety of players and everyone who uses our sporting facilities is always our highest priority.
