Lion of the Week 🦁

This week’s Lion of the Week, proudly brought to you by Mercedes-Benz Waverley, is Will Scott.

As captain of our Under 19s, Scotty has been an influential figure both on and off the field in 2026. From driving recruitment and building a strong team culture to consistently leading by example on game day, he gives absolutely everything for the club each week.

Following a dominant performance across half-back in Friday night’s win over Old Xaverians, Scotty backed it up the very next day in the Reserves, playing a crucial role on the wing in a hard-fought victory over Old Melburnians. His toughness, fitness, and willingness to compete allowed the Reserves to get over the line and capped off a special weekend, with Scotty and four fellow Under 19 players recording a double win across both grades.

A natural leader with a team-first attitude, Scotty continues to set the standard for those around him. There is no doubt he has a bright future ahead and will feature heavily in senior football in the years to come.

Lion of the Week 🦁

This week’s Lion of the Week, proudly brought to you by Community Bank Malvern East, is Sam Hibbins.

After plenty of pressure from social media and the past players group chats, Hibbo came out of retirement to make his long-awaited debut for the Pandas — and he certainly didn’t disappoint.

Winding back the clock, the Collegians legend put on a masterclass, dominating all over the ground and reminding everyone exactly why he is regarded as one of the great Lions. His class, footy IQ, and ability to impact every contest were on full display, with the veteran capping off his performance with a goal to the delight of the crowd.

It was a special day for all those lucky enough to witness it, as Hibbo showed that even after retirement, he still has plenty left in the tank.

What a day at the Trott! 🦁💜💛

We were thrilled to welcome more than 100 past players, officials and supporters back to Collegians for a fantastic Past Players Day.

Guests enjoyed a magnificent lunch prepared by the wonderful Rosemary, Louise and Vonnie, before hearing from President Andrew Keneally, who congratulated Susie Rodgers-Wilson OAM on her outstanding service to the community through charitable organisations.
We also celebrated Ian Rice following his official induction as a Big V Legend at last week’s VAFA Big V Lunch — a fitting recognition of his incredible contribution to our game.

It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces back at the club, sharing stories, reconnecting with old teammates, and enjoying everything that makes Collegians special.

To top it all off, the Seniors and Reserves delivered two huge wins on the field. A great day for the purple and gold!
