Your brain is part of your performance toolkit. š§
And the good news? You can train it.
Three simple places to start:
1ļøā£ Visualise your sport vividly.
Donāt just picture the outcome. Rehearse the sights, sounds, feelings and actions of performing at your best.
2ļøā£ Build a stronger self-image.
The story you repeatedly tell yourself about who you are as an athlete influences how you show up. Start paying attention to that story.
3ļøā£ Train your self-talk.
Your brain is always listening. Give it useful instructions, especially when pressure hits.
The goal isnāt to āthink positive.ā Itās to deliberately train the thoughts, images and narratives that support the performance you want.
Whatās one of these three you could start practising this week? Share this with your teammates and coaches to help them along.

Overthinking before competition isnāt a personality trait. Itās a skill gap.
You donāt need to stop the thoughts. You need to know what to do with them.
These are 5 of my favourite tools for helping athletes shift from overthinking ā performing.

For many tomorrow is the last game of the season.. and your last game matters.
Not just because itās the end of the season ā but because itās one of the experiences your brain will carry into the next one.
So donāt rush it. Donāt overthink it. Donāt make it about the result.
Embrace it like you did your first.
Play. Compete. Enjoy it.
Because the way you finish can become the feeling you start with next season.

If youāre new around here⦠hi. š
Iāve spent 10+ years in health & fitness, own a gym, train for triathlonsāwhich is probably evidence that I enjoy making life unnecessarily difficult āand Iām raising three children.
But Iām also slightly obsessed with the brain.
Iām fascinated by human potentialāand why we can be capable, motivated and ambitious, yet still get in our own way.
Because high performance isnāt about becoming perfectly disciplined.
Itās about understanding yourself, building the capacity to handle hard things and learning what youāre actually capable of.
Thatās what Iāll be sharing here.
Mindset. Science. Real life. And the stuff that makes you think⦠āMaybe Iām capable of more than I thought.ā
Now enough about meātell me one thing I should know about you š

You donāt need more confidence.
You might just need to back yourself before you have the proof.
Thatās where it starts.
What are you backing yourself on?
