100 Firsts games for Cory Brady tomorrow, just a small milestone in comparison to the over 250 games played for the club or the clubs number one goal scorer with 196 goals! Most recognised name in the club with Cory’s company BRADY TILING as our major sponsor, Cory contributes significantly and generously to the club! Can he get 200 goals before the season ends?!

🎉 GAME MILESTONE 🎉

2011 was the year Hollway came to Casey, and after 10 seasons, Matt has seen plenty of success — including a premiership, thousands of goals saved, and now reaching 150 games (the equivalent of 170 hours on the field).

Hollway’s career extends beyond Casey, originally starting at Dandenong, where he built countless friendships and achieved just as much success through premierships and game-changing saves that led to victories.

Throughout his playing journey, Hollway has remained consistent — vocal, strong, confident, and exceptional in goals.

Beyond hockey, Matt is a husband and dad, and the loyalty and love he shows within his family extends just as strongly to his hockey family.

A big pat on the back to Hollway on his 150th game — best of luck tomorrow night 👏🤍

After 5 years at the helm, Dan “Mitty” Mitchell has stepped down as Head Coach of our Men’s Premier League team. Under his leadership the team reached the finals twice, and he leaves behind a culture of passion and pride that will long outlast his time at the Club.

Dan’s impact reached well beyond Footscray- from Hockey Club Melbourne (Hockey One) to the Australian Men’s U18 team, and now his new role as Head Coach of the Adelaide Fire Men’s Hockey One team.

Paul Schram and Lach Anderson will guide the Men’s PL team through the remaining rounds.

Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog. Thank you for everything Mitty 🔴🔵⚪️

🎉 GAME MILESTONE 🎉

118 weeks after bringing up his 100th, this weekend Luke runs out for game 150 💪

Luke’s hockey journey began back in 2012 through our junior ranks, where he notched up 82 games before making the full-time step into seniors. He made his senior debut in 2016 and hasn’t looked back since — with 22 goals and a premiership to his name 🏆

2024 marks a huge year, celebrating his 10th senior season (13 overall) alongside this incredible 150-game milestone 👏

3PM tomorrow at OHA — get around him!

Good luck Luke, go get ‘em 🤍🏑

VALE IAN SHIELDS
Casey Cannons Hockey Club will unite in wearing black armbands this round to honour and pay respect to dedicated past club-member Ian Shields.

An ever-present figure at the club over decades, Ian played an instrumental role in securing the pitch and clubrooms at Berwick Secondary College we now all call home.

Ian was a driving force in the club's quest to find a home base, acting as a key conduit between club, government and college stakeholders, and helping navigate complex regulatory and funding roadblocks to turn the concept of a dedicated home into a reality.

Beyond the laying of the pitch, Ian stayed heavily involved in the club, serving actively on the grounds sub-committe and worked tirelessly behind the scenes on committee governance and infrastructure projects.

Widely regarded as the ultimate multi-tasker, he was never too proud to mow a lawn or do any maintenance job required.

Of course, were it not for the contributions of daughters Cath and Jo, who played at the club and served in committee roles, son Greg and wife Trish, we would not have been impacted by Ian's passion and expertise - and never been treated to his "sticks down" catch cry from the sidelines.

His contribution is made all the more profound when you consider his dedication to Ormond and Castlemaine United cricket clubs and that sport, which earned him the honour of Cricket Victoria's Community Cricket Volunteer of the Year.

Casey Hockey Club is indebted to Ian and our collective hearts go out to Trish, Cath, Jo and his extended family and friends on their loss.
