Dirk successfully completed the epic Challenge Roth 2026 Triathlon in Germany this past weekend! This incredible event, known as the home of triathlon, saw nearly 4,600 athletes from over 110 nations tackling the gruelling 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling, and 42.2 km run.

Dirk's journey to the finish line was nothing short of extraordinary. Despite facing a major setback with a lung embolism earlier this year, Dirk pushed through with immense determination and courage.

From battling leg cramps in the swim to navigating rain-soaked roads during the bike leg, and overcoming blisters and cuts in the run, Dirk showed relentless spirit by finishing the race strong and proud.

The atmosphere was electric, with thousands cheering on all athletes. For the full, inspiring tale of Dirk's triathlon adventure, you can read the complete blog on the LRC website: https://lalorrunningclub.com.au/blog/f/overcoming-obstacles-challenge-roth-2026

Congratulations to all of our LRC members who made the trip north to the sunny Gold Coast for the 2026 Gold Coast Running Festival!

What an incredible weekend it was, with LRC members represented across every event—from the 5km right through to the mighty Marathon, with some even taking on multiple events!

For some, it was another crack at conquering the marathon. For others, it was an unforgettable first marathon finish. No matter the distance or the goal, every achievement deserves to be celebrated.

A huge shout-out also goes to those who weren't racing but were out on the course cheering, encouraging and supporting our runners every step of the way. Your energy makes all the difference!

To top off a fantastic weekend, many of us came together for a celebratory dinner at Clocks in Surfers Paradise, sharing stories, laughs and well-earned meals.

Congratulations to everyone involved. We're so proud of each and every one of you!

📸 Here are a few happy snaps from the weekend.

Missing from the dinner photo: David Hamilton.

Tony and Anna headed down to the Barwon Heads Running Festival on the weekend and enjoyed a fantastic day on the Surf Coast and a nice little getaway as well.

The inaugural festival featured a flat, scenic coastal out and back course along Thirteenth Beach Road, with plenty of fresh ocean air and beautiful seaside views throughout. It was a great morning for running and a fantastic event for runners of all abilities.

Well done, Tony and Anna……a great effort from both of you! ❤️💙

Congratulations to Mark on completing Run the Pen!

Taking in the beautiful Mornington Peninsula scenery along the way, Mark put in a fantastic effort and came away pleasantly surprised with his result.

Well done, Mark all that training is paying off! 🏃‍♂️

A very special achievement for Jen, completing her first half marathon at the Edinburgh Half Marathon!!

This run carried extra meaning, done in honour of her dad and the love of running he passed on to her. Combining it with an extended holiday made the experience even more memorable and after months of dedication and training, it was fantastic to see all the hard work pay off.

Congratulations Jen on an unforgettable achievement. 🏃‍♀️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What a weekend at the Albury Running Festival – the second edition.

Set along the beautiful Murray River, it was the perfect backdrop for a great day of running and plenty of strong performances from our crew.

Big shoutout to Kaitlyn who completed her THIRD half marathon and to Chris for taking on the 10km event. Also congratulations to Melissah who came away with a shiny new PB! 🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️

So many fantastic events happening lately and it’s awesome seeing our runners out there giving it a crack, supporting each other and enjoying the experience.

Well done everyone ❤️💙

Another great club turnout at the Woodlands Trail Run held at Living Legends near Tullamarine Airport. It’s such a fantastic location for a trail event…..close to home, easy to get to and with some really enjoyable trails to run.

Trails+ always know how to put on a great event and once again brought plenty of energy, atmosphere and good vibes throughout the morning.

Shout out as well to Vincent who made a last minute decision to sign up for the 5km and ended up earning himself a spot on the podium, taking out 2nd place! 👏🏃‍♂️🥈

Well done to everyone who came along, ran, volunteered, supported and represented the club so well.

We all love a good runcation and honestly, you could not think of a better destination than Noosa ☀️🌴

Part of the Runaway series held across various locations around Australia and New Zealand, this is always such a well run event and a fantastic weekend away. Gorgeous weather greeted everyone, although it definitely warmed up a little towards the end!

A huge shout out to Rose who came 3rd in her category…..an amazing effort

Whether you tackled the Half Marathon or the 10km, everyone did an incredible job and represented the club so well. Safe travels back home to all our runners and supporters.

Also spotted Haynes out on course, but unfortunately didn’t manage to grab a photo this time.

It all started with Megan saying after GOR last year, “I’d like to do something a little different next year. I’ll be turning 50 and I want to tackle the 50km at UTA… who’s joining me?”

She then proceeded to try and entice just about everybody who would listen into signing up 😂 but in the end managed to recruit three brave souls.

First was her running bestie Sarah, always there with the moral support, encouragement and the ability to help Megan dig deep right when she needs it most, while never shying away from a challenge herself.

Vincent and Brian also put their hands up and together the four of them took on an incredible challenge.

They were rewarded with an amazing course, spectacular scenery, enough challenges to truly test their grit and determination… and SO. MANY. STAIRS. Honestly, oh my god, so many stairs 😅⛰️

A huge shout out also to Narelle, Megan’s sister, who was out there supporting and keeping the club updated with progress reports throughout the event. We loved following along and cheering everyone on from afar.

An absolutely amazing effort by all of you……congratulations on taking on such a huge challenge and smashing it! ❤️💙

Another incredible weekend at the Great Ocean Road Running Festival….one of LRC’s absolute favourite events on the calendar!

Saturday saw LRC members tackling the 6km and 14km events in Apollo Bay, along with the 12km Trail Run in Lorne. Then on Sunday, our legends took on the stunning (and challenging!) 23km and 44km along the Great Ocean Road into Apollo Bay, plus the 10km walk in Lorne.

As always, our runners were welcomed by the amazing cheers and support from fellow LRC cheer squad ❤️💙

There was a bit of rain around over the weekend, but thankfully nothing that could dampen our spirits!

Huge congratulations to everyone who participated…..what an unforgettable weekend along one of the most beautiful running courses in the country!!
