Preston Lions Football Club Vs South Melbourne FC

These two huge clubs face off tonight in a massive encounter with the winners to play Lions FC for a spot in the Hahn Australia Cup final.

We want to congratulate both clubs and wish them all the best.

To many times when these clubs are mentioned, it can be in negative terms but we won’t have that, as we celebrate two of the biggest clubs in Victoria, whom are flying the flag for NPL.

Appreciation Post

North Sunshine Eagles FC

Although they have just been relegated to the VPL2, we cannot forget they have had an amazing cup run, and tonight take on Lions FC for a place in the semi finals of the Hahn Australia Cup.

A remarkable achievement for a team in the 3rd tier in the pyramid, and will play in the 4th tier in 2027.

Congratulations to all involved and may you continue this amazing journey.

Round 20 kicks off tonight.

Down in State 5 you have Moonee Valley Knights hosting Doreen United in the battle of 1st V 2nd.

Knights hold a two point advantage but the last time these two teams met, Doreen had a thumping 3-0 win.

If Knights win, that just about seals the championship but if high flying Doreen can win, then they control their destiny.

Spare a thought for teams that will be relegated over the weekend.

They have been deducted 9 points.

Allegedly played a player who was suspended for 12 games under someone else’s name.

Played in 8 games, and they won 7 of them.

We have many disappointed fans who question why they haven’t lost all points he played him.

Rumour of Merger:

State 1NW side Western Suburbs are in talks with relegated State 1 club Westvale who will be in State 2NW in season 2027 with regard to a merger.

If this were to take place it would open another spot in Division 2 to Division 7.

Cecil Plate Winners - Altona East Phoenix Soccer Club

In a great spectacle for cup football, Altona walked away 2-0 winners to clinch silverware for Paok.

In state 1 V State 2, the game had everything, with goals, chances, tackles and a competitive spirit displayed by both clubs.

Williamstown should have been leading at the break but the ball hit the outside of the post in a one on one situation.

Altona scored with a great cross that hit the striker on the leg and he had no idea it went in.

They iced the game late with a well taken goal to win the plate.

Best of luck to both clubs in the remaining 4 games where Williamstown still a chance for promotion and Altona having an excellent 1st season back in State 1.
