Vale Mr. Peter Alway
It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of Peter Alway.
Peter was a lifelong contributor and volunteer to judo both at state and national level.
The Preston Judo Club and its affiliates had almost 1000 members at its peak thanks to the dedicated effort, passion and knowledge Peter shared.
During his judo journey Peter was both State and National President, with many years volunteering on the Judo Victoria Committee. He also held positions as Referee Chair, and was a dedicated Judo Victoria State Team Coach in his earlier years.
Peter was honoured with Life Membership of Judo Victoria in 2011 and achieved his Rokudan β 6th Dan in 2022.
Most recently he was awarded an Inaugural Judo Australia 2025 Service Award, acknowledged at the JA National Championships in June this year.
Peter dedicated his life to judo and the judo community; and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lesley and the entire Alway family.
