🎾 QUARTER-FINAL VICTORY! 🏆

Melbourne University TC is off to the Finals after a huge 4–2 victory over Royal South Yarra in today’s Tennis Victoria Women’s Pennant (Grade 5) showdown!

After splitting two absolute nail-biters in the opening doubles, the squad took control in the singles to lock down the win (8 sets to 4, 55 games to 38 overall).

🔥 Match Highlights
R1 Doubles: RSY scraped through a tight match tiebreak 11–9.

R2 Doubles: Mia Foxe & Fiona Murdoch clutched out the third-set tiebreak 10–4 to level the overall match.

Singles Dominance: Winny Wang pitched a masterclass at Singles #1 with a dominant 6–0, 6–1 win, while Sethmi Sumanaweera (6–1, 6–2) and Mia Foxe (6–3, 6–2) sealed the deal!

🏆🎾 What a massive season it’s been! The Tennis Victoria 2026 Pennant campaign delivered pure drama, grit, and some incredible tennis right from the very first serve. 

Season Highlights:
A Flying Start: Across the board, all teams came out firing. The energy early in the season set a fantastic tone, showing off the deep talent and determination across the squads.

Injury Heartbreak: Victory comes at a cost, and unfortunately, several key teams were hit hard by the injury bug mid-season. Despite fighting through pain and short benches, a few squads just missed out on finals qualification.

Grade 12 Men’s Heroic Resurgence: What a rollercoaster! The Grade 12 Men engineered an unbelievable late-season comeback, roaring back to win 5 out of their final 5 rubbers. Although they agonizingly fell just short of a top-4 spot in their final match, that relentless finish showed massive heart.

Spotlight: Women’s 5 Quarter-Final Game Day
The headliner of the season belongs to Women’s 5! Captained with perfection by Melbourne Uni Tennis Club Vice President Kiki, this powerhouse squad dominated from day one, finishing firmly at the top of the ladder with a staggering 70% win rate across the regular season.

They aren't done yet, they are ready to translate that regular-season dominance into silverware, and their journey starts right now!

Get down to the courts to bring the noise and back the team as they look to go all the way and claim the championship!

🚨👮‍♂️ Authorities were reportedly called to the courts today following an incident of extremely suspicious behaviour.

Witnesses report that two individuals were observed attempting to remove water from the courts with squeegees, raising immediate concerns about whether they had the necessary qualifications to operate heavy rain-removal equipment.

At this stage, no arrests have been made, although authorities are reportedly considering charges of aggravated court drying, possession of an unauthorised squeegee and conspiracy to make the courts playable.

The investigation remains ongoing. Members are advised to avoid the area until further notice and to remain vigilant for any suspiciously dry patches.
