The push for our first 045s title took a big step forward this weekend with a gritty 2-1 win at home V West Point Old Boys FC Aspendale Stingrays Masters were the better team in the first half and scored early on through Luke Simmons. Then a series of missed chances from the boys in Orange had the fans wondering if this would come back to haunt us. Then, Steve S got his jaw broken in 2 places as he collected a ball on the edge of his area. The WP player left his leg in late, but no yellow card 🤔. Strong start in the second half with playmakers Benjamin Haller and Alex J creating a few chances. Then disaster struck as the left winger ran from a WP corner to the other end of the pitch, leaving 3 ASC defenders on their arses, and tucked the ball away to make it 1-1. With 15 mins to go, the 🦡 got the ball on the right and put in a beautiful cross to James McLean who nodded home the winner. Focus went on Beaumaris as they lost 3-0 to Sandringham, this gives us a 5 point cushion at the top. Go Stingrays 🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡

Another action packed weekend for the Aspendale Stingrays Masters with four games on over the weekend. Our table topping O45 division 2 team welcome last year’s champion West Point Old Boys FC for Friday night clash. Our o45 division 3 team play away at Glen Eira on Saturday and a massive double header V Baxter Soccer Club for our O35 division one and two teams. Go stingrays 🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤

On Friday evening, the Aspendale Stingrays Masters faced the Chelsea FC Australia Masters in the inaugural Jamie Holmes Plate. Both the Division 1 and Division 2 fixtures were highly competitive matches, with all teams demonstrating immense passion and determination until the final whistle. Division 1: Chelsea Masters 1 – 0 Aspendale Masters. The Division 1 match concluded in a 1-0 victory for Chelsea, decided by a first-half penalty in an intense encounter that saw three red cards issued. Despite being reduced to 10 men, Aspendale controlled possession and created several strong scoring opportunities, including a near-miss from K. Kavanagh, who struck the post directly from a corner kick. Although two late red cards opened up the pitch, Chelsea maintained their defensive discipline to preserve the clean sheet and secure the win. Division 2: Chelsea Masters 2 – 2 Aspendale MastersIn the Division 2 fixture, Aspendale claimed an early 2-0 advantage courtesy of a brace from captain D. Nash. Chelsea responded before the interval to reduce the deficit to 2-1. With the overall aggregate score deadlocked and the Plate seemingly heading toward a penalty shootout, Chelsea converted a decisive penalty kick in the final minutes of the match. The game concluded in a 2-2 draw.Final ResultBy securing a draw in the second match, Chelsea FC Masters claimed the inaugural Jamie Holmes Plate with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Aspendale Stingrays Masters play Chelsea FC Australia masters in the inaugural Jamie Holmes Memorial Plate at Aspendale Gardens SG this Friday night. KO 7pm. Jamie played for both teams during his time in master football, enjoying success with Aspendale Stingrays Masters in 2024 and 2025 with 2!division 1 league titles. On Friday, both teams honour Jamie by both Div 1 and 2 teams competing for the memorial plate with aggregate score determining the winner. Sam Hamer Reaches 50 Appearances for Aspendale Stingrays Masters The Stingrays Masters community proudly celebrates O35s Div 1 Captain Sam Hamer Sam Hamer as he officially joins the 50-appearance club. Sam joined the club in 2023 during our second season running an Over 35s program, making an immediate impact on and off the pitch. As skipper, he was instrumental in driving the team to back-to-back league championship titles in 2024 and 2025. Best known for his clinical vision, Sam has consistently turned games around, scoring and assisting courtesy of his wand of a left foot.
