The following VFA 1st & 2nd division Reserves & U19s semi finals were all played 40 years ago yesterday, Saturday 30th of August 1986. Games were played at Werribee, Port Melbourne and Oakleigh.

Williamstown v Preston 1st semi final
40years ago today, Sunday 31st of August 1986. A great game of footy at the Junction oval, Spider Shaw booted 10 goals in a losing side and Fothers booted 7. The Seagulls the eventual premiers got up by 10 points.

Photo from 41 years ago today, Saturday 31st of August 1985 courtesy of former VFA boundary umpire Kraig Krieger, the field umpires for this game were Santo Caruso and Andrew Smith.
This was the 1985 VFA 3rds elimination final between Williamstown & Prahran, the late Ron James played for W***y. You can see the curtain raiser scores on the Cramer St scoreboard with Springvale narrowly defeated Coburg. Springy went on to win the flag and of course Ron would make his senior debut a few weeks later. (2 more photos in the comments section)
