VicSport has released the inaugural State of Victorian Sport & Recreation Report - establishing a new evidence base for understanding the health of Victoria's sport and recreation system.

Drawing on the perspectives of people from across Victorian sport and recreation, the report establishes a baseline that VicSport intends to build on over time - helping the sector understand where it is strong, where it is under pressure and where collective attention and investment may have the greatest impact.

“Sporting organisations naturally have incredible assets. Through their people, their stories, their community reach and the trust they hold. They often underestimate how valuable that is to a business."

The Healthier Partnerships in Sport project, a collaboration between Vicsport and VicHealth, aims to support sporting organisations to strengthen the health and wellbeing of their members, participants and community by prioritising values-aligned partnerships and/or sponsorships: https://bit.ly/465Pi2q

Included in the project is the Healthier Partnerships Handbook, a comprehensive guide for sports to build a portfolio of healthy partners and the best ways to identify, assess and value those partners.

Pickleball in Victoria is experiencing extraordinary growth with membership more than doubling in approximately 15 months and the sport now reaching hundreds of Victorian communities.

For Pickleball Victoria, the challenge was no longer simply attracting participants. It was building the clubs, venues, facilities, contributor pathways and support systems needed to sustain that growth.

Through the VicSport Guiding Sport process with Andrew O'Loughlin, players, clubs, venues, volunteers and community leaders were consulted to put together Growing Pickleball in Victoria: A Community Game Plan 2026–2029. This practical strategy supports more people to start, stay and contribute to the sport of pickleball.
