Keen to learn to kayak this season?

The wind is looking good for getting out on the water, and I reckon this could be a great first step — a 2-day Sea Starter course with East Coast Kayaking at Sandringham.
It covers all the fundamentals of sea kayaking on protected Victorian waters — paddling technique, steering, wind and tides, wet exits, rescues, safety and trip planning. You also get the chance to qualify for the Paddle Australia Basic Skills Award.

Could be a challenging, exciting and fun weekend to get properly started!

School Outdoor Education & Water Safety Programs
The season is off to a great start, with our school outdoor education programs combining kayaking, water safety and adventure in a safe and supportive environment.
Our Kayak Training Centre at 37 Jetty Road, Sandringham, is conveniently located right on the beach, adjacent to the sheltered waters of Sandringham Harbour on Port Phillip Bay. This provides an ideal setting for students to develop their kayaking skills while learning important water safety awareness and practices.
Whether it’s an outdoor education class, year-level celebration or end-of-year break-up, our programs are designed to give students a fun, engaging and educational experience on the water.
Water safety is an important part of everything we do. Students learn practical skills and develop an understanding of how to stay safe around waterways, while building confidence, teamwork, communication and leadership skills through kayaking.
We can also operate from your school camp or a range of locations across Victoria. Our programs are suitable for day trips and extended journeys, with activities tailored to suit the age, experience and objectives of each school group.
Some of the magnificent locations we use include:
* Yarra River
* Port Phillip Bay
* Westernport
* Gippsland Lakes
* Nooramunga Marine Park
* Whitsunday Islands
* Overseas destinations
* For more information or to discuss a school program, contact us on 0410 329 090 or [email protected].

Spring is here, right on cue — cold water and high winds!
Let’s get excited for a solid season of paddling. Find your “Lee”, practise your control and stability, and get ready for the season ahead.
See you out on the water this season, Team!

I’ve added two screenshots:
* • Fawkner Beacon — one of my favourite graphs, showing wind speed, gusts and wind direction.
* • Bay water temperature — a good reminder that the water is still cold, even though spring has arrived.
Stay aware, practise your skills, know the conditions, and paddle smart.
See you on the water!
